Fake MX69 Pro?!
#11
That it's not available in engineering mode makes it very unlikely to work regardless if 1900 is supported in your area or not. I'm checking the scatters now. Will get back to you soon.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

The scatters are the exact same. There are then several other possibilities.

- The phone is a fake, but just uses the same partition setup. This is not unlikely. Many phones of different models use the same scatter setup.
- The phone is real, but someone along the line tried to flash some custom ROM to it. This is also possible, but I can't see the reasoning for it.
- Mlais has released an 850/2100 version of their MX69 Pro - also unlikely.

I'm afraid we're not much better off than before the scatter.

Though one advantage is that we know that flashing the MX69 Pro firmware is unlikely to brick you. Just make sure you have a full MTK Droid Tool backup. Of course, I can't offer promises. Only likelihoods.

Wow, WuddaWaste,

I zoomed in on the map you pointed me to. It looks like half of my neighborhood is in one of the hexagons with coverage while half isn't, and I live in the half that doesn't have coverage. Wow, so maybe I don't have 1900 MHz coverage.

I also zoomed in on my work location. That is in a coverage hexagon. So let me get back to you on this. I'll bring my phone to work tomorrow, and we'll see. Very interesting.
Hi, WuddaWaste,

I took the mx69 pro to my office at work today. This is definitely in a tmobile 1900 MHz supported area based on [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]. However, this didn't make
a difference. The phone still doesn't see that frequency.

I heard back from merimobiles support. They had me try a few things including a factory reset, checking/setting the network apn settings, and putting the phone in 3g only mode. I tried these things, but they didn't make a difference.

Hi, Gizbeat,

As I mentioned to WuddaWaste, I heard back from merimobiles support. I asked them about the 4.3 rom my phone is currently on. They said they didn't install it. They also said the phone is genuine and they would never sell a fake. They asked me to try a few non-invasive procedures. If they don't work (they didn't), then try flashing with an official update rom from needrom.

Regarding the 4.3 rom my phone is currently on, they think this is a beta rom installed by mlais. The beta part of this statement sounds right to me; when I did the factory reset, my phone didn't have a keyboard (again).

So the next step is to try flashing a new rom. I've never done this before so I have to read up on it. Actually I need to read up on how to do a backup of the current rom first.

I really hope that Merimobiles is right on this one. It would mean a host of good things.

1. That you'll have your phone hopefully up and running again soon, without having to send it back.
2. That Merimobiles is still awesomely legit, not duped by its suppliers, and fully supporting their customers.
3. That Mlais is looking to continue to update their phones' software.
4. That 1900 MHz support on this device is fuhrreals, yo!

Keep us posted, and good luck with the flash (and backup)!

Just because a firmware may be in beta doesn't mean it wouldn't have a keyboard. That's like pre-alpha style Fu Man .

I also believe it very unlikely the factory or Mlais would send out firmware without proper baseband support for their phone.

Read the NexusTrix tutorial on how to make a backup.

Hi, Guys,

Doing the backup was easy, but I had a difficult time doing the flash. I tried a few times on Friday. A few more times on Saturday. Then finally on Sunday I got it to work. My phone is on the latest official mlais update ROM now, running android version 4.2.2. I've attached an image of the "about phone" screenshot. Unfortunately, this didn't make a difference with the 3G radios. If you look at the photo I attached and compare it with the earlier android 4.3 one, you'll see the bandband version is the same. I'm curious is this the same version on the H9008?

Regardless, at this point I have to think the mx 69 pro, from a hardware point of view, just doesn't support 3G 1900 MHz.

If you do figure out any kind of resolution to your problem please let me know. I have been looking into buying the same phone but im not going to if it doesn't support the wcdma 1900.
I don't know much about these phone but is it a possibility that the antennae was damaged or faulty from the factory?
If Merimobles helps you out with this situation please let me know because if they end up figuring it out I will probably Purchase through them.

Merimobiles support has been great. I would buy from them again. Right now, they're trying to contact mlais to ask about the 3g bands for this phone. Supposedly, we should hear from mlais in 2-4 days ...at least that's what merimobile support says. I'l update this thread once I hear something.

Sweet thanks, If it just ends up being something faulty with that phone and not an issue with the mx69 I'll probably end up getting one
