[Question] Tianhe H900 Mtk6592 - Rooting
#11
I think they are still dealing with the rooting issue.
I've read about the method pitone02 used -- flashing a customized boot image and recovery before rooting. Since he has already confirmed it works, it will definitely speed things up for johncar10.

For the IMEI issue, if johncar can also get his phone rooted, he can try sending AT commands via Mobileuncle Tools first.

To assist the OP, did you have to restore IMEI or was the mere flashing sufficient?

no, i didn't restore imei after flash.
flashing boot and recovery at right address (check your android scatter made by mtk mobile suite) flash doesn't destroy imei.

My flash was destroyed, I believe due to the reason I had to re-flash the phone.

Right vroot says the phone is successfully rooted I try to run SuperSu which doesn't want to install it says SU binary needs to be updated. I used the both modes and they both just fail. Any thoughts please

johncar10, have you tried rooting from recovery?
If you haven't, try building CWM, boot into recovery, then root from there. Here is a guide to build CWM unrooted [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

wooh there....if vroot says rooted....reboot phone then.....

Your next goal is to install mobileuncle, which should only happen if your device is truly rooted.
then follow this tutorial to restore IMEI
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

2) if mobileuncle fails to install see my signature and just do the easy stuff to see if a terminal shows you have true root pls and report.

Thanks everyone for sticking with me.

I've loaded mobileuncle when I try change the IMEI I get the following

"This Command is not allowed in User Build"
When trying you true rooting I get mount permission denied I presume then that it is not properly rooted? Does this mean I need to follow Athos's instruction?

cheers

John

Update:- I have used root genius and then ran the 3 commands stated in you checking link.

results are

Vid=0(root) gid=0(root) context=u:r:toolboxConfused0 root@andriod_4x_wet_kk:/

/emmc@andriod /system ext4 rw seclabel,relatime,noauto_da_alloc.commit=1,data =ordered 0 0 root@andriod_4x_wet_kk

mobileuncle has the same issue

Hi
Quote:"This Command is not allowed in User Build"

This is a quick test for root.....and should be easy enough to understand.
At this stage you do not have root.

lets review
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

pitone02 says vroot then install supersu, I assume he means chainfire's supersu APK

so can you pls use a code box to reply to the following
code] something [/code] ....I have removed [ from left of code]

now do this
Code:
ls /system/xbin/su
and show result in code box
read on if there is a result.....if no result then vroot failed and you need to do it again pls
####################
only if su exists on phone
If vroot did put a su executable into system.....reboot phone
then go to playstore and install this app if you can

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]&hl=en

reboot phone if it works

go to playstore install a root file manager, such as ES File explorer or
root browser

then you can remove the chinese su apk from /system/app
oops....I can't use vroot so it might install the su into
/data/app.....but don't delete the
"eu.chainfire.supersu*.apk"

I should mention the other method while I am here

as Athos says

put a custom recovery onto your phone

Then you download a zip file that contains the su executable from here
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

put that zip at base of your sdcard then reboot into recovery
choose install zip
choose from sdcard
choose that zip file

good luck

yes i installed chainfire's supersu when phone was already rooted. during install it ask me if i want to delete other SU app (there was only vroot SU installed) and i answered YES.

to change imei i think you have to flash a valid nv-ram image and then use mobile uncle tool.

if you haven't a valid nv-ram image into the phone i think you can't restore imei.

Su comes up with SU Binary requires update.

I'll try the few things suggested above and report back
