Done. Let me know if it's successful. I've used both methods and they should work fine.
Ok so did everything in the tutorial and now i have no network. Permissions are correct. Should i have modem.bak and modem.img in firmware folder? Properties for New modem.img file is rw- r-- r-- and properties for modem.bak is rwx rwx rwx i dont know if that helps in figuring out anything.
Doesn't matter where modem.bak is. That's just the backup in case there's a problem. modem.img should be in /system/etc/firmware. Is it?

And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could

Yes it is. permissions for old modem.img before i renamed it to modem.bak was rwx rwx rwx also when i copied modem.img to system/etc/firmware i had to manually change the permissions to rw- r-- r-- if that matters at all.

Ok, give it a go with rwx rwx rwx. I assume you're rebooting the phone after permission changes.

Yes rebooted after permission change in phone info for baseband settings it says MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V7.P1,2013/05/08 14:45 Also had Superuser and SuperSU installed on phone. Dont know if this makes a difference.

Superuser and SuperSU shouldn't make a difference other than allowing you to copy inside /system.
So is it working now with rwx rwx rwx?

Nope same result. I have no clue whats wrong. Its like it blocks my network signal. Was hoping this helped. when i put settings back to normal my network comes back.

What date is your original baseband and what model phone do you have?

Original baseband is MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V6.P1,2013/02/27 19:53 and i have model N9589 Hmm.. That's the oldest baseband. There's was at least one other version between these. You can try that. I'll try to get it up within the next day or so. Sorry, but I need to give this a rest for now and I need to search to find it.
You can also try the newest baseband with newer firmware if you can find it. I can't guarantee that will solve anything, but it could be a conflict between the older firmware and newer baseband. Might be worth a shot if you have access to newer firmware.
