Hi Lookylooky.
Thanks for this review.
I think I bought the same phone? I bought this phone below,
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
It was working great for 3 and half days but now it keeps turning off when it goes to sleep. It's working well when in use, checking emails, watching video etc. but once the screen goes off it turns off instead of going to sleep.
I understand this is a ROM problem. Please could you point me in the right direction? I've done a factory reset but this hasn't helped. The phone uses ROM 4.2.2
Hope you can help,

It's not a ROM problem. It's a motherboard problem.
The H9008 shuts down randomly when in sleep mode, and there's nothing to do about it. Battery savers, ROMs from other phones, underclocking the phone etc. The problem remains.
This phone is totally worthless even as its fake 3000mAh battery which is really 1600mAh.
Why buy a phone which randomly shuts off when it's in sleep mode? What if your business partner tries to call you over and over, and you miss that big deal?
However if you want such kind of phone, the Tianhe H9008+ (Mention the '+'!!) does not seem to have this shutdown problem. Indeed, it has a different motherboard and also a different kernel.
I've thrown this piece of crap away and ordered another type of phone. I tried to use it as media-center, but it didn't support MHL (HDMI) so that doesn't work either.
FYI.

FYI. WOW! well I wasn't expecting that. I've been in touch with ChinaPadmall and they said,
"Hi, friend,
Thanks for your detail information. As for your problem, could you kindly try to update the sofware or restore factory settings? If these still don't work, you can send it back to fix. TKS."
I was hoping this was just a ROM problem. It turns off every time it goes to sleep. It's not even random!!! I've just bought it and it looks like it's duff. The wife is going to kill me!!
Thanks for the info.

There are users that have done things to improve the situation. Look through the threads here for more detail. You can give them a try and see if they work out for you.
A last resort is setting the phone so it never deep sleeps, but of course this will hurt battery life.
The rumor about it being 1600mA is just that - a rumor. There is no way to determine battery mA unless you use a battery analyzer and steady drain it. As far as I know, know one has done that yet.

Thanks NexusTrix.
I'll have a look through the posts / threads.
Re the battery, I found the battery life ok, when it was working lol. It lasted 15-17 hours (medium use) which given the size of screen I didn't think was too bad.
Thanks again.

I no longer have my H9008 but I never experienced the phone turning off on me, not even once. The only issue I had with this phone was the terrible battery life.

The model I bought was the 16GB version of the H9008 that Merimobiles was selling. I believe the ROM was the same as the Star one listed on NeedRom. I can't remember if I used the stock launcher or switched it to Nova.
I don't have the phone anymore so I can't check things for you, sorry.
