If that fails, you will need to crack the glass and pull it away bit by bit. Being extremely careful not to damage the LCD underneath.
That's from the front. You will need to open it up from the back as well so you can detach the ribbon from the old digitizer and plug the new one.
I do have a heat gun. I am curious how the LCD is held in; I am not seeing any frame or brackets to secure it to the phone chassis. I know the digitizer is adhered to that, but am at a bit of an impasse with getting the LCD removed at all.
I got it apart. It is not too bad, I did not even need the heat gun. I probably pulled the phone further apart than necessary, but it is pretty straight forward when you look at the pictures and have an idea of how phones are put together. Now to see how quickly I can get the replacement, and if I can actually reassemble it properly.
