DG800 Digitizer Replacement - JoshMcMadMac - 2014-09-11 My wife has dropped her DG800 hard, several times. She has managed to damage it such that the screen works erratically, sometimes not accepting swipes and sometimes doing things on its own. I believe the issue is the digitizer, is that a safe assumption? I see replacements available for ~$20, but how hard is it to replace? I posted this in the Doogee specific forum...was it moved for some reason? RE: DG800 Digitizer Replacement - JoshMcMadMac - 2014-09-12 Well Doogee was very quick to get back to me, which is good. They told me to send it back to the seller to have it sent back to Doogee to have it repaired, which is not a cost effective solution. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for disassembling this phone? I have pulled phones apart before, but they are all different. Any help would be greatly appreciated! RE: DG800 Digitizer Replacement - Sniper47 - 2014-09-12 Replacing the digitizer is not a fun task. Typically its glued to the frame. You will need some sort of industrial heat gun or a hair drier may suffice. Then a suction cup to pull it away. If that fails, you will need to crack the glass and pull it away bit by bit. Being extremely careful not to damage the LCD underneath. That's from the front. You will need to open it up from the back as well so you can detach the ribbon from the old digitizer and plug the new one. I am curious how the LCD is held in; I am not seeing any frame or brackets to secure it to the phone chassis. I know the digitizer is adhered to that, but am at a bit of an impasse with getting the LCD removed at all. I got it apart. It is not too bad, I did not even need the heat gun. I probably pulled the phone further apart than necessary, but it is pretty straight forward when you look at the pictures and have an idea of how phones are put together. Now to see how quickly I can get the replacement, and if I can actually reassemble it properly. |
