(Hopefully) Soft-bricked MT6577 changing partition - jjne - 2014-01-25 OK, I know, I was stupid. Playing with partitions with no backup... I have an MT6577 based Galaxy Note clone ("Gong Chang" A120, e1901_v77_yp1_y7100hd, 4GB). Needless to say there doesn't seem to be a firmware available for this I rooted the phone and attempted to run the partioning APK, which ran through OK but the phone is now bricked. It's stuck at the opening logo and I believe this is down to the EBR files being incorrect. Of course, I do not have the original EBRs either... Running the MTK Droid tools doesn't seem to work, so I am unable to grab the scatter file. The PC does seem to recognise the phone's existence but I suspect that the full ADB protocol isn't coming online. Is there anything that can be done here? RE: (Hopefully) Soft-bricked MT6577 changing partition - jjne - 2014-01-26 The phone in question is this one: I have asked the seller for the ROM but they've said they can't get it at present due to the holiday period in China... that's fair enough but I'm not sure if the seller is fobbing me off. Any assistance or advice is gratefully received RE: (Hopefully) Soft-bricked MT6577 changing partition - jjne - 2014-01-26 OK, so it looks as if when it starts up, the USB is coming online but only the two partitions are becoming visible; both of these are showing zero bytes and are inaccessible through Windows. ADB does not start, so the various tools won't work. If someone could answer the following question that'd be great: can you confirm that the only solution to unbricking this phone is to locate, and install the correct firmware for the device through recovery/SD card? If so, does anyone have the correct firmware given the description above? |
