Welcome Cubot A890 = M6589

Hi everyone,

Thanks to Gizbeat the new phone named Cubot A890 / M6589 now has a thread.
It is most justify in my option since this is a great device with Adv/Dis with a really fair price.
I think poeple will need the information here... and now it also have Firmware updates (ROM) and cool and easy rooting tutorial which actually works!

I will post some review and pics later on.

It seems the guys at Geekbuying are in touch with the people behind Cubot. Click [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] to search for all related firmwares. Not only the firmware for A890/M6589 is present, also A6589 is there.

The latest firmware update for A890/M6589 is from March, allthough mine is delivered out-of-the-box with a newer April version.

Can somebody upload 4gbs versión firmware or just ebr1 and ebr2 .

I have the 4GB version.
I also flashed with GeekBuying firmware, but not with April version.
I have the March version which works fine.

Note: when it says to connect your device to the computer, remove the battery from the device, only then connect to computer, wait few seconds and then insert battery.
When done, disconnect device from computer, remove battery, wait few seconds and place battrey again and then turn on the device.

Let me explain better,what I see is that i do everything correct and phone work but not properly,screen is in black and I´m not the only one there are more people with the same issue.I guess that cubot has changed lcd hardware in this newer batch,so when flashing everithing is ok,but nothing to see on the screen.

I have the 4GB version (black device) and everything is working including screen and everything else (sensors/GPS/WIFI/Radio).
I can only advise you to write email to the seller (GeekBuying are very responsive and supplied some good answers to my recent questions)

The thing is that yours maybe older...a month or earlier...but now they are sending with another hardware display.Nothing Works!
