I have a bricked Blu Advance 4.0. Does anyone have or create a rom backup to use? Thanks.

Great guide and thanks for the effort in producing it.

It works perfectly.

I prefer to use Mtkdroidtools v2.4.3 because it has the option to backup userdata and cache, which makes it a full ROM backup.

The problem comes when attempting to restore using sptools.

The preloader is always missing in the list of entries after loading the scatter file and depending on what version of sptools I have tried, uboot can also be missing.

Without the preloader is seems impossible to restore back to the phone.

I did find a solution with one ROM and that was to copy the original preloader bin file from the original ROM flashed into the !Files_to_FlashTool folder.

This method worked with one custom ROM that I was testing but using the same methodology with another, it soft bricked the phone.

So it seems to me, unless am I missing something that the preloader is vital to the restore but mtkdroidtools is not able to backup/create the appropriate preloader file for a successful restore.

......i'm not able to make the back up succesfully. I've got the green square, so my phone is rooted but it takes a very long time and it's not coming any furter than:

here it keep hanging and I have to abort this process then. Any idea what can be wrong?

It will take about 20 min to finish. Are you giving it enough time? And make sure you have 2gb free space on the drive and on your SD.

thnx for your quick reply. I get not #SU messages, so that's no problem. Also enough diskspace on windows PC and phone's SD card. I just try again!

Unfortunately it keeps hanging, so I have to abort after 30 minutes.... So this does not work for me. Unfortunately I have to install a new ROM as my current ROM has issues (e.g. Google Agenda not working). I have downloaded an official ROM, but now I don't want to take the risk to install that without having a recovery...

Try this, you can read back the ROM with SP Flash Tools, then MTK Droid Tool will make a flashable ROM out of it.

Next question:
So, from this procedure you make a backup and then MTK Droid can make a flashable ROM out of it. How can I install this ROM? Is that by using CWM-method (recovery mode by holding power/volume up, wipe dalvik, ....., etc.) Or do I need SP Flashtools again. If both are possible: can you tell me what's the difference between the two options (e.g. is flashing via Flash tools more 'drastic'?) Thanx for your answers!

mmmm....finally got my backup. Version 2.5.3 did the trick, before i was using 2.5.0 and that one was not working for my MTK6892 THL W200s.
