Sorry for my late reply. You have to flash the ROM Lollipop (with TWRP included) that I have suggested in my Tutorial/Review. You have to use the SP Flash Tool that I have suggested in my Tutorial/Review.
I RECOMMEND you to select "Format All + Download" (don't worry ... I have done it a lot of times ... and nothing bad happened). After flashing, you have to put the zip of SuperSU on your microSD (you will find it always in my Tutorial/Review), and you will have to flash it with TWRP. Please follow these steps :
1) Copy the zip to your external microSD (no need to unzip).
2) Boot into TWRP Recovery.
3) Choose “Advanced Wipe”.
4) Select Dalvik Cache, Cache and then swipe to wipe.
5) Choose “Install” from main menu.
6) Choose “Storage”.
7) Choose the storage where you have put your zip file (external microSD).
8) Browse your file system and find the zip file and tap on it.
9) Swipe to install zip.
10) Reboot.
DON'T FORGET to install BusyBox (after reboot) to complete the rooting process. And after, to check with Root Checker.
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE I WILL PUBLISH TUTORIAL/REVIEW ABOUT OTHER CUSTOM ROMS.
Regards :-)
Many thanks Cleopatra for the extensive reply! In the meantime I solved it and am using spacerom now. But i'll need your instructions anyway coz I think I'll go back to stock so I can use gravitybox. I'm afraid it won't work with spacerom.
Maybe off topic but do you know how to correctly handle a micro sdcard in lollipop? I had put a bunch of stuff on it like music, pictures and my titanium backup, directly from my computer. But as soon as I put it in the ecoo it was gone. But the picture folder was still there. I have no idea... What's the best way to manage sdcards?
Looking forward to your other reviews! Thanks!

Hi mnicolaas !
You can find Xposed Framework for SpaceRom at the link below :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/3k9ui1..._C.RC4.zip
Flash the zip with TWRP (same steps like SuperSU zip). And then, you have to install the module "GravityBox [LP]".
For the microSD, I suggest to download/install "SD Formatter" at the next link :
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
And then, you have to format your microSD. Please set (in "option setting" of SD Formatter) like below :
FORMAT TYPE: QUICK
FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTEMENT: ON
And then, try to copy once again your files into your microSD ... it never happened to me (to lost my files on my microSD with SpaceRom). Please keep me update about the situation.
Regards :-)

Thank you for the suggestion! Very much appreciated! But I think I busted the sdcard now... Was downloading something on my phone directly onto the sdcard! I think that was a stupid move. Downloading was slow and I cancelled it. Then I wanted to check the card with my file explorer but couldn't read it anymore.
So I put it in my computer through a usb card reader and explorer also couldn't read and asked to format it. That's when I wanted to use the program that you suggested but it said that it was write-protected and I had to flip the switch. Which it doesn't have of course.
So I'll just have to order a new one and then I'll format it straight away with sdformatter and I will let you know how it turned out
Have a nice evening!

Update on my sdcard issue. Got a new Samsung Evo 64gb card and went straight to sdformatter. But now I can't use it anymore. Both phone and computer can't read it. Disc manager still shows it has 64gb but there is no format, exfat, fat32 or ntfs. Now I'm using an old 32gb card where I manually deleted files from instead formatting. It works.
Not sure what went wrong. I'm thinking perhaps the ecoo can't work with 64gb?
Anyway I'm enjoying the phone, bit less satisfied with the cam though. In a few days I'll try your Kitkat rom

Hi mnicolaas !
You have made a big mistake to buy a 64GB microSD. Maybe you did not read carefully my tutorial/review ... I wrote at the end of it the following sentence : "Despite the Ecoo e04 Aurora Plus does not has the NFC and it has the limit of 32 GB of microSD" :-(
However, I suggest you to install the custom rom "SpaceRom" (please follow carefully all the steps about it in my tutorial / review). And then, please install the 2 apps (please follow carefully all the steps about them ... fundamental update in particular) at the next link :

Hi Cleopatra!
Yeah I know, I tried anyway with 64gb. Thing is, it did work fine at first. Until I downloaded something straight on it...
Well, lesson learned
I'm trying your solution for the overheating issue now, I left a question there.
Anyway, thanks again for your help. I've never been active on a forum like this before but you made it a very fruitful experience. Hope I can return the favor sometime. When I'm more experienced

Guys, I tried to flash spacerom, but I took an error 5054, and now my phone is bricked. I tried to flash the stock rom from needrom, but when I am trying to load scetter file, it tells me "incorrect scatter file format". Please help me, ECOO E04 PLUS is my primary device, and I need it.

Hi THD !
Don't worry ... we'll try together to solve your issue. It also was happened to me your same problem :-)
At first, download SP Flash Tool 5.1516.00 from the link below :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/5ir71m...516.00.zip
And then, download the stock ROM from the link below :
http://www.needrom.com/download/ecoo-e04-3gb-5-0twrp/
Now, run as administrator SP Flash Tool and flash the stock ROM that you have just downloaded.
REMEMBER to select "All Format + Download".
And then, download the SpaceRom from the link below :
http://www.needrom.com/download/ecoo-e04...oid-5-0-0/
Now, run as administrator SP Flash Tool and flash the SpaceRom that you have just downloaded. REMEMBER to select "All Format + Download".
Everything should works fine.
Please keep me update about the situation.
Regards :-)

Hello. Can we have an analytical tutorial on how to install SpaceROM? I don't even know how to root my ECOO yet...

Hi MitsosDaBest !
I've written the next phrase on my review :
"FUNDAMENTAL: When you will flash the SpaceRom, you will have to select "All Format + Download". I I know it can be dangerous, but it is recommended by the developer who created the SpaceRom. However, don't worry, I personally tested it on my Ecoo Aurora Plus and it doesn't happen any problem".
