so sorry to see that your rear speaker is kinda damaged, mine sounds really good... I think it doesn't worth waiting 2 months to send it back so that they change it for you, while you can buy the replacement part for around 6 or 7 $

andPEOPLEDONTFREAK OUT!

listening to music while your earphones are plugged in with inew v3 is not that bad!
I didn't thought that this might make you think inew v3 has the worst audio quality ever! which is not so!
first let me clearify something: when it comes to audio quality, I guarantee you , I'm the most picky person you will ever find, I have my own stupid high standards. when I say its below average, for me yes it is , but for you it must be just fine. don't take it persoanally , I truelly mean it. when my friends buy a new pair headphones and they are excited and happy with it and they say "hey! come here prepare your ears for an explosion" and after I tested it I'm like that "naaaah, nothing special" ... and they are like are you crazy?...
the best Audio quality reviewer for you, are your ears. this is something verrry personal. even with the same condition it is a really different experience for different people.
soooo yup, you have to test it yourself to see if it's good enough for you or not.
but personally after all these years, I had only one mobile phone that produced extremely good sound quality with earphones and it became my music player AND my phone at the same time. that phone was and still is Nokia X5-01.=)
usually smartphones are not a good option for listening to music with the highest possible quality.

so finally is there any hope that by changing the 3.5mm jack I can get better results from this phone?
ONE MORE STUPID QUESTION! :
do smartphones have some specific hardware for audio management? like old pc's that had audio card Big Grin

Milanji.....Sorry I'm a new member, so cannot reply by PM.

I live in Thailand. Earlier this month Xiaomi opened an official (I think) shop here. The Piston V2 earbuds were priced at 799 Baht (just under $30).

Unless also live in Thailand, it may be better to purchase through a reputable Chinese site.

I'm really amazed at the sound for this price, and yes.......They really do smell of chocolate :-)

Danyno1 sorry, but i have to say, that V3 has really crappy headphones output i saw for last 2 years on smartphones. Yes, if you use some average headphones with low impedance and high sensitivity, you dont need to set higher volume and the sound is fair. But with "better" headphones with higher impedance, you need to set higher volume and the sound is heavely distorted (you can hear it best on bass). I tested it with Sony XBA-3, Sony MDR-1R, Xiaomi Pistons 2.0, Sennheiser IE80 and it was unusable for my ears Smiling

No, there is no change to get better sound with changing jack connector.

Yes, some smartphones have dedicated chip, called DAC (Digital-Analog Converter) to get better headphones output, like european version of Galaxy S3 has Wolfson WM1811 and sound compared to V3 is like from another galaxy, even on cheaper headphones.

ATM, there 2 ways to get fair sound quality from V3. You need to use some good player. I recommend PowerAMP with turned on Direct volume control.
1st one is Bluetooth. Tested with Sony MDR-10RBT and even without apt-x support, the sound was very good and much better compared to cable connection of same headphones.
2nd is to use some headphones with Active Noise Canceling. I had borrowed MDR-NC200D and tested it in city traffic, and the noise cancelig was very good, so it wasn't necessary to turn on volume up and the amplifier inside headphones did his job very well.

As far as audio processing goes, there are two main components you'll find in any digital audio player (smartphones included) : one is the DAC as described above, and the other is an amplifier to drive the headphones. The DAC can either be standalone or integrated into the main processor. Lesser is true of the amplifier, which typically needs to be its own IC -- but is still VERY integrated into a larger board. That is, regardless of whether the DAC and amplifier are implemented as part of the processor or as their own ICs, the design is definitely NOT going to be modular. That is, you can't simply drop-in replacements. At minimum it would require a full look at hardware schematics with a bill-of-materials, knowledge of electrical engineering, a valid form-fit-function replacement, machine-like precision with your soldering skills, and likely a case modification. Phones are simply too "integrated" for modular design -- especially one like the V3 which has a tiny form-factor.

That said, if you're having problems with the output amplifier not being up to snuff, an external headphone amplifier will probably be the solution you're looking for. Without actually hearing what you guys are hearing, I can't really diagnose the problem for sure but it sounds as if it might be the output amplifier. If the headphones are distorting at moderate volumes it's indicative of an impedance mismatch issue. Usually too low of impedance and you'll cause clipping (distortion) at mid-volume, too high of impedance and you'll cause a lack of volume.

I could ramble on here for a while, but I'll cut to the short version.

Cliffs Notes Version:
- Swapping out audio components in your phone isn't going to happen.
- The iNew V3 probably used an audio amplifier that's either budget-friendly or battery-friendly (or both).
- Budget/battery-friendly amplifiers aren't necessarily designed for audiophile output.
- A dedicated external amplifier for your headphones may overcome this limitation.
- Portable headphone amplifiers have their own power source and are typically designed for performance.
- Portable headphone amplifiers can also be kinda expensive, and can also be clunky to carry around.
- It's a possible solution if the audio really bothers someone.

I still haven't received my phone... (maybe stuck in customs?) so really I can't make my own judgment and relying on other people's judgment is well, relying on other peoples' needs and tastes, which are definitely different than mine.
but from following this forum for a long time it looks like maybe the excitement over the iNew V3 was premature?

I mean:

Battery is just so so,
sound quality - it's a debate, but that there even exists a discussion is not good news.
GPS - here in Israel some people were disappointed.
Firmware gets updated a lot - some people say it'sa good sign the company is taking care of its clients, but maybe they released the V3 to the market too soon ("half-baked"?).

I currently have a THL T5s, and it was the first China phone I bought after searching for many many models and seeing the W200 at a friend's place.
I must say: the screen is plastic, and only 240ppi, but the GPS is fine, the headphone quality is not lower (at least that I could say) than my previous Samsung i9105p (Galaxy S2 plus, exactly like s2 but slightly different cpu and with NFC which I don't use). The THL is built just as well as the Samsung and is much faster. What is noticeably worse is the flash luminosity and the camera, which I suspect is the problem with many China phones.

In retrospect I would spend more (well, twice more) and buy the THL T100s. But now the T11 came out and it looks like a good phone (even though only 8mp camera).

I am really trying to understand why different implementations of the MTK chip have so much variety in quality. Maybe iNew took a really nice box and MTK chip that everyone else uses and all around it put crappy hardware? (speaker, phones plug etc.)

I must say, my THL T5s has impressive battery life compared to the Samsung, and it is also 6852, but it's battery is rated 1950 mAh, not much higher than the iNew.
I know the screen is 4.7 and slightly lower resolution, but I'm sure this is what makes the difference.

Sorry if this is off-topic. I'm just wondering whether when it arrives I should sell it straight away and use the money to get a higher-rank THL.....
