[Question] Please help to choose - Doogee DG310 / thl T6S ?
#1
Hello everyone.
I want to buy a mid-range budget phone,
I have came to my 2 best choices - Doogee DG310(Voyager2)
Or - thl T6S

They Have pretty same hardware:

DG310: Doogee DG310 Smartphone use MTK6582 Quad Core 1.3GHz, 1G RAM + 8G ROM with 5 inch 480*854 screen, Android 4.4 OS,

T6S: ThL T6S use 5 inch screen, with MTK6582M Quad core 1.3GHZ processor, ThL T6S smartphone has 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, 0.3MP front + 5MP rear double camera, installed Android 4.4 OS.

I don't know if its okay to put the links here, but the price is the same on both
They have pretty much same hardware,
SO my choice should be based on which company tends to be more reliable and has better build quality.
Also if any of you have one of the phones and can write a super quick review for me to know it would be very helpful.

thank you very much and have a nice day! Smiling

I won't be able to say which is better as I don't have the THL T6S for comparison, but generally speaking THL releases solid phones with less hardware issues.

The DG310 is shockingly good for $88, but I haven't run it through the full gamut yet. I have the DG550 which has been excellent. I will have a full review of the DG310 coming up later this week.

Thank you, is there any reason that you prefer the DG310? why is it better than the T6S?

I don't know if one is better than other, I just liked the looks of DG310, T6S just seems plain, same old thing. THL to me tries to remake the same phone over and over. Doogee tries to make different phones.

In my opinion, you picked BOTH solid choices.

I have a THL and can vouch for its quality. I have very few complaints about this phone and it's by far my favorite I've ever had.

Doogee on the other hand is a relatively new contender, but they're showing a TON of promise. I really liked seeing the link @crashbandicot posted. I'm loosely involved with quality testing for my real job, and it's great to see that these guys are doing their due diligence -- even on their budget phone! Awesome!

If you can hold off until Gizbeat does his full review on the Doogee, you'd probably be best. But in either case, I think you've chosen wisely.

Interesting comparison. I like it.

I have both a Doogee DG350 and a THL W100. What I have found is that the brand build quality of both companies are very very similar. The company products from THL will have the better "rep" in general, but in my personal experience... flip a coin.

The same goes for the cameras and GPS. I have yet to see from my own experience, the products I own, or the products that I play with (friends phones!) any significant difference in the quality of either - especially the camera. If a very good camera is a requirement for you, I would simply suggest you save your money and get a better product, or buy a digital camera.

Now, to the two specific phones from Doogee and THL, this is what you had:

DG310: Doogee DG310 Smartphone use MTK6582 Quad Core 1.3GHz, 1G RAM + 8G ROM with 5 inch 480*854 screen, Android 4.4 OS,

T6S: ThL T6S use 5 inch screen, with MTK6582M Quad core 1.3GHZ processor, ThL T6S smartphone has 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, 0.3MP front + 5MP rear double camera, installed Android 4.4 OS.

Below would be the criteria that I care about on on each in regards to these types of China phones.

1. Performance, Memory, GPS, Camera and screen (resolution, type, etc) are essentially the same, this (in my opinion) can all be ignored.

2. The DG310 battery is a bit bigger (2000mAh) vs T6S (1900mAh). Personally, I want every bit I can get if it doesn't cost me too much weight or size.

3. Speaking of size, the DG310 is around 2mm longer, 1mm wider, but a hair thinner. It also weighs 3 grams more than the T6S I (like most) like a smaller form factor for any given screen size, however, I also will give preference to thinner phones because they are always in my pocket. Fatter phones are just not my thing.

4. The T6s 3G bands are lacking the 1900 WCDMA frequency for 3G. This is a major mistake by THL in the low end of the market. As an American ATT MVNO user, I will always take an extra frequency.

5. The DG310, using an LG screen, should theoretically offer a bit more scratch resistance than the THL product, but since I always use a screen protector, this is not a defining factor in my thought processes.

A final general consideration for all China phones is the availability of accessories. Cases, batteries, anything you may find yourself wanting or needing. Make sure the things you want are available before you buy because chances are, they will not be available later. THL tends to have a broader following in this area, but not always and not all models. YMMV.

In conclusion, it is obvious that they are far more similar than different in most measurable categories. It comes down to branding (with THL getting the nod), frequency support, battery, size/weight, and accessories.

The choice based on metrics goes to the DG310. A larger battery by a hair and an extra frequency available for use. I would be willing to take another chance due to a good experience with Doogee and select this phone over the THL based on these metrics.

As for your original question in regards to reliable and better build quality, I am of the opinion that it is a toss up - but that history will lean towards a THL product rather than the upstart Doogee... at least until they really establish themselves, which they are well on their way to accomplishing.

I read somewhere that the some if not all THL phoned dont have removable batteries. Definitely a reason not to buy one of their phones in my opinion.

If both phones have the same specs and similar quality, I would go for the phone which has the most accessories available, like phone cases, replacement backcovers and batteries. I tend to wear out more accessories then phones.
