Hey lookylooky
The pictures @nickdoolahz has posted belong to my 9976A.
He asked me for it at XDA and I didn't mind.
I'm from/in Germany using o2 and telekom.
I don't know the (exact) frequencies they're using.
The overall build quality is MUCH better than Samsung.
It's a real aluminiumalloy-sideframe and glass, unlike Samsungs fake chromated plastic frame.
The buttons are made from metal, too.
The clearance is premium.
Even the unremovable 9976A-backcover feels better.
I can compare that, because I've had the original SGS2, SGN1 and SGN2.

The latest update brings your device to v066 (still 4.2.2).
They did a big UI overhaul, which I really hate.
My led stopped working with aquamail and whatsapp.
The battery drain and RAM consumption is much better than previous versions.
Had some problems updating, while my 9976A was rooted.
Looks like they activated some root-countermeasures, because if I install BusyBox on my rooted 9976A it breaks the root.
SuperSU also got some issues, because it always wants to upgrade binaries.
I'm currently using Kinguser while SuperSU is installed, too.
I really advise any 9976A-user to do a full backup before updating!
If you need any files drop me a line...

Thanks thor2001. I successfully made my own cwm recovery through mtk tools and installed. Now I am having English cwm recovery. I mistakenly pressed yes to update but thanks God, it failed. I am happy with the present rom. Don't want to update unless it is a clear advantage.
@lookylooky: we are having 2100 as 3G in our country. As per the specs, it works on 900/2100 frequencies. I think, it doesn't support 850.
@linr76:
I seriously said that. The build quality is at par with apple products. Forget about Samsung.

@apple2005
No big deal...I've had some problems lately, after I downgraded to v056 and in the later steps my battery died.
But now it looks better.
Yep, the update.zip checks some files in /system/apps, e.g. SharedStorageBackup.apks checksum, and the boot-blocks checksum (boot.img).
So you have to flash back the original boot.img, which unroots the phone. At least, that's what I needed to do to upgrade to v066.
Does your installed paid apps from Google Play survive a phone restart without disappearing?
That seems to be a issue for some peoples 9976A.
I've found a workaround for that, but maybe you 9976A doesn't have that problem at all.

@thore2001: I had problem of auto unistallation after reboot. But when I clicked on the icon, it redirected me to download from the coolstore. When I downloaded from their store, it stays even after reboot. It means they have done some mischief and not the playstore. I even updated one application through playstore but again disappeared. But when I downloaded from coolstore it stays. Now I am not updating from playstore.
Will you please tell me what type of sim cards it is working on? I mean micro sim or nano sim. I didn't install my sims till now as I have to cut the sims and had no time to take to a shop to cut the sims. Thanks.

You told me that, @apple2005?
That slipped my mind ...
I'm visiting different forums and I forgot, what you're saying.
It's microSIM, like shown on the back (on the foil).
The g-card has a klick-in lock-mechanism, whereas the w-card needs to be put correctly inside the tray.

Cool down mate. We had an interaction on some other forum. I can't tell the name because it is forbidden here to name some other forum here. Just read after the first sentence.
And thanks for clarification about sim cards.
