You're basing your thoughts on a single 2 year old budget China phone with the most budget SoC. Even 2 years ago it was bottom of the line.
Frankly, regardless of price, this is ignorant... basing your conclusion on all China phones on a single 2 year old phone.
Just Google Samsung GPS no signal. Or Samsung sucks. Every brand in the world has some problems with all models at some point.
Apparently no one will change your mind though, so good luck.
Was it you who stuck 3 weeks in a row working on a phone's hardware and firmware? Seeking for help everywhere and people would just say "Download EPO and install it".
Wherever I went to find an answer, there was always someone saying not buy Chinese phones. Not only only Media Teks, but other kinds too.
So now I have got to go back and reflect about it?
I know other brands have problems too, but just because something is 2 years old, doesn't mean Chinese have change the way they make things. The last chinese phone I saw had an IPS screen and terrible touch screen, and it was an octa core phone with 2 Gb memory. There are hundreds of Chinese phones reviews in YouTube, new ones, that are going to tell you that when the camera doesn't suck, other thing will. We're talking about one the most capitalist countries in the world (Even if it has a communist government) that is famous for selling bad things.
I've not only have bad experience with phones, I had bad experience with other stuff too, such as necklaces, you have to be very careful when choosing a chinese seller, otherwise you'll buy things made by materials of very poor quality.
Even today Media Tek still make cheap things.
I can't predict the future, perhaps I try another chinese phone later, when I have money to burn, because $80 bucks for you means at least $150 for me, we're not living under the same economy and bureaucracy.
Even if I buy a $15 bucks phone, I'll have to pay customs because they're just going to go to google and search for the phone's price, they'll see "$80" and will charge me.
For a while, other brands may suck but at least I'll know what I'm buying and that I'll have a local warranty. And it doesn't mean it has to be a Samsung, it could be an ASUS or any other brand too.
