You need to get as far as step 7 then type "cat default.prop"
Do you see the following?
Code: ro.debuggable=0
persist.sys.usb.config=mass_storage
If you do, type in "setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb"
If the terminal removes you from adb shell, just go back in.
Check to see if ro.debuggable is now 1, and persist.sys.usb.config=mass_storage,adb
EDIT:
But see mirandam's post after this first. If you will be able to flash that way, then better. No need to do this.

Using sp flash tools you don't need the phone to be in usb debug mode. I've used it to bring back a completely erased phone to life again.
You only need to have the right drivers installed.

Do you have time to make a tutorial?
For extra karma, can you do a Linux tutorial as well. I think fastboot can be used for Linux but not prepared to brick my device to find out.
cheers

Sorry, your request will have to wait for at least until half sep. I'm currently doing an international home movement. I only have some time to respond here when I have access to internet, basically at the two homes involved at in-between days.

Fastboot doesn't exist on mediatek

What it comes down to when bringing back to life a near-dead phone is this:
- restore a complete working backup from the same or equal phone.
- change android id (cid)
- restore/change nvram for imei, wifi mac-address and bt-address
- restore apps and data
- see if it all works and have a party afterwards
All of this is indeed available in several tutorials/information except maybe for the party part

Nice thread! But i'm less pleased with my phone, a 809T+ (MTK6592). Phone starts but screen doesn't respond to anything. Volume (button) is working and will light the three buttons at the bottom of the screen but those are not working either. I see messages like sim card is full or sim slot is empty. When closing the lid the time will be displayed and when opening the screen (with the famous boat) is show. The phone signals with vibrations but nothing works related to touch or swipe.
I did flash (20140620_e2719v92_hydy_hd_oppo_x136 from needrom) succesfully but no differences.
So can somebody tell me if this is a hardware failure or is it software related (and what to do next (i'm a newbie))?
The strange thing is that for half a day after i got the phone (from FastCardTech, which are selling this as the Honey II. No response ) everything was working fine (except for Google Play). After installing some app's and trying them out, with the next start-up the screen didn't respond anymore.
Thanks for any reply. Hope it will give me a direction to go further. I'm stuck now with a useless phone, ready for the dustbin.

That very much looks like a hardware problem. This sort of problems usually occur within the first 15 days of use.
I would most certainly get onto fastech and see if you can get a replacement.
