[How-To] HomTom HT3 Pro unlock bootloader & install TWRP

The following tutorial is destined exclusively to the HOMTOM HT3 PRO

WARNING :

Before implementing the next significant changes ... make sure to do any updates ... otherwise there is a real danger that the phone could turn into BOOTLOOP !
Believe me ... I know from experience ! In particular, MAKE SURE to install the "Wireless update" ... please see the next screenshots :

The phone will reboot to install the system update ... please see the next pic :

AFTER DOING ALL UPDATES

Above all, tap on "Settings" ... the "Developer options" are just enabled by default.
Tap on "Developer options" ... then enable the "USB debugging" ... please see the next 2 screenshots :

When you will try to connect your phone to your pc with usb cable ... it will happens to you to see the next weird event :

Your pc/laptop will not be able to see your phone ... but don't panic !
Tap on "Connected as USB Storage" ... please see the next screenshot :

It is set by default on "USB storage" ... please see the next screenshot :

You have to change into "Media device (MTP)" ... please see the next screenshot :

And just like magic ... your pc/laptop will be able to see your phone ... please see the next screenshot :

UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER - HOW TO

Above all, please download & install (both ADB and FASTBOOT) the "adb-setup-1.4.2.exe" from the next links :

Connect your phone to your pc with USB cable.

Open cmd prompt ... and type the next command :

adb reboot bootloader (and press enter)

Your phone will reboot into FASTBOOT mode. Now, type the next command :

fastboot getvar all (and press enter)

Please see the next screenshot :

Please take a look to the red arrow ... it is telling you that your phone has the bootloader LOCKED.

Now type the next command :

fastboot oem unlock (and press enter)

Please take a look to the screen of your phone ... you will see the next WARNING like in the screenshot below :

Press VOLUME UP to confirm to unlock the bootloader.
You will see in the CMD prompt the next messages :

"Start unlock flow" ... and when it will be finished ... you will see "OKAY".

To verify if everything worked out ... please reboot once again your phone into FASTBOOT mode ... and type once again the next command :

fastboot getvar all (and press enter)

If everything is fine ... you will be able to see the same (red arrow) like in the next screenshot :

INSTALL TWRP 3.0.0.0 & ROOT - HOW TO

Above all, I suggest you to download the next version of SP Flash Tool from the link below :

You will find the TWRP 3.0.0.0 at the next link :

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

STEPS :

1) Put the "BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip" into your external SD.
2) Turn off the phone.
3) Open SP Flash Tool.
4) Load the scatter file ( "Download only" mode).

5) Click on "Download".
6) Connect your phone to your pc with USB cable.
7) To gain access to the custom recovery, press volume up & power buttons simultaneously. You will see 3 options (Recovery Mode/Fastboot Mode/Normal mode).
8) Use the volume up to move between the 3 options and volume down to confirm the Recovery Mode.

Finally, you will be able to see your HomTom HT3 Pro like in the pic below :

9) Swipe to allow modification.
10) DO NOT REBOOT, but I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU to install "BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip".
11) Wipe cache/dalvik.
12) Reboot and enjoy Smiling

To verify if everything worked out ... please install "Root Checker" apk and tap on it. If everything is fine ... you will be able to see the same like in the next screenshot :

Hi Cleo,can you please help me with rooting and installing custom TWRP recovery?I'm stucked on SPFlash part of this tutorial..drivers installed,phone shutdown and connected after pressing "download" in SPFlash..
   
Do i have to be root for this operation or?What to try next?

Yes,i know but i have small problem here..Smiling..my ext SD card is 2 gb only and almost full..i need to get another one with more capacity..Big Grin
