$350 range phones

I totally agree with you but not only are you paying for branding and advertising, but there's warranties that go along with that and customer service and also 3rd party support.

That's exactly why I said he needs to make sure he goes with a seller who's known for their customer service and honoring their warranties.

Change is inevitable.

In several months we'll see octagon LTE enabled Chinese phones.

At this time $350 purchase of the quad 3G phone will not look that great.

In about a year those quad 3G phones will be little better than my Sprint Windows CE smart phones, which had basically all the features of the first-generation iphones and which are now somewhere there in my garage and ppl would not be too excited to buy them for even $20 apiece.

Tech depreciation is huge.

But hey, we want our toys, and we want them now!

If you're buying the kind of subscription it takes to notice the difference between high end 3G and 4G, you should probably just ignore the price of whatever phone you buy cause any price difference would pale in comparison to subscription cost anyway.

As for me, I use wifi and watch my data usage closely where it's not available. 4G is a liability cause having it on just for a second means valuable data is lost.

very disappointing quadrant score; what's the deal with that? Is quadrant not making use of the Intel Atom's Hyperthreading capabilities or something? If so, that score should be almost twice as high.

I pay $10 for 2GB high speed data a month. On my N4 I was able to get LTE. The difference between 3G and LTE is dramatic. And $10/mo is unavoidable anyway if I want data on my phone w/my carrier, tmo.
