V3 falling apart [or how to change color of home button]

thanks alot,

I would go ahead, especially seeing as there is that info on how to disassemble it. For someone who's handy and good with working on a small scale smart devices are't too bad too work on. Sometimes it's annoying/frustrating, like this iPhone 4 that I have in right now. I have to take the phone literally 99% apart just to replace the power button *shakes head*. But that's what happens when you cram so much into such a small space.

Just take your time every step of the way, don't force anything, and don't get in the groove to much. It's when you start chugging along "oh just removing screws, pull this out, yadda yadda" that you stop being careful and tear a ribbon cable or something.

I don't mean to deter you though, just some key advice from experience. Yeah I've made a mistake or two lol. I binned a $60 screen once Sad, I can genuinely lay a portion of the blame on a crappy Apple design though.

It's crazy easy to fix stuff like this. Loctite is STRONG so just put VERY small dabs in the corners and a couple along the sides.

Considering your screen is already off you'd have to remove the adhesive that's already there as well.

Over all it's more time consuming and having patience then being "hard". Just take your time and don't over do it on the glue and you'll be fine.

I have experienced exactly the same with mine. My 13 month old daughter caught the phone and teared away the screen protector. 2 days after that, I saw the upper edge of the screen lifted. I just took a two sided adhesive tape, cutted down 2 thin pieces of tape and glued it. Everything is fine now.

OK, I have received Double Side Adhesive Tape from eBay and display is back in case.

Sorry that I can't help much with some kind of tutorial. I tried to disassemble the phone but didn't succeed. There are total of 15 screws to remove to get to the MBO but I don't know how to remove it. Because my display was completely out and holding only on flat cable I was able to move it away from case in order to place Tape around the housing (without disassembling the phone) .

I visited professionals before and they wouldn't take the phone for repair. They just told me NOT to use any kind of liquid glue no matter what. This tape is holding for now.

Sadly , phone is now back in one piece and looking pretty again Cool but other problems remain Confused

Personally, i did not disassembled it. I just took the edge of the screen, lifted it up gently in order to have enough place to slip the adhesive tape under the screen.

I just took care of 3 things :
1 not stick the tape on the camera, sensors and speaker
2 cut the tape long enough to be able to tear away the protective band from it
3 sticking the tape on the internal side of the screen BEFORE and then on the internal frame of the phone. If you stick both sides at the same time, you increase the risk of manipulation errors.

This is my own experience. Hope il will help.

When I lifted up gently one edge of the screen all of the glue gave away. It was not sticky anymore at all.

well thanks all for your information. it seems no-one has been able to completely remove the screen from the mbo and at the moment im unable to lift my screen off i dont think, but il just wait till it starts falling apart, which it undoubtedly will do in the next few days, so it seems the sticky tape works fine, do i just need to get the 3m one for LCD's ? i may have a look in the local shops and see if thye stock it
thanks alot guys
REALLY APPRECIATE IT Smiling
