Hello.
So I just got my HDC One from DHgate, and I am very pleased.
But yeah, im a nerd when it comes to electronic, so first quistion is:
1: Is there any ROM's for the HDC One or simialr to it yet?
2: Some options are in chineese, how do I change that, I have the language set to English, but some of the keyboard and settings are still in chineese?
3: I am danish, cant I get a Danish language for the phone, so I have a Danish keyboard, and danish texted setting etc?
^^I hope you can help me with the quistions, first time I ever brought a clone!

Welcome, and thanks a lot for your support of the forum.
1) There's a ROM listed at needrom.com, but the comments show that it's causing some problems for some people. It looks like quite a few people have bricked their HDC Ones. Is it HX9299A? You can take a look, the link is http://www.needrom.com/mobile/hdc-one/
2/3) Options and things to try:
a. You can factory reset, that will often get rid of a lot of the Chinaware. Do it manually from recovery, not from within Android.
b. If that doesn't work, or if you want you can also root and install Titanium Backup and you can then manually remove the apps one by one.
c. Check which keyboard is selected. If you're seeing Chinese on the keyboard, likely the stock keyboard installed is a Chinese version of Android Keyboard or possibly a 3rd party Chinese keyboard installed as stock.
d. Check Home screen > Menu button > System settings > Keyboard and input methods > Tap settings icon of the active keyboard > Input language
e. If that doesn't help, install a custom keyboard from Play. I recommend SwiftKey or MultiLing. They both should have support for Danish.
Let us know how it works out. Be carefully about updating your HDC One to new firmware. Just a brief scan shows me a lot of people bricked and you seem happy with how it is so far other than the language issues which are mostly easily fixed.

Thx for your reply, and of course I want to support your forum, you have put alot of work into it.
1: The rom, I have looked at that page, and im not gonna try it, reading the comments it sounds rubbish made. So not gonna do that.
2/3: I will try and do all of the above when I get home, if that dosnt work, I will get back to you.
2 more quistions, Im not sure what rooting means?
1: ^^can you explain what it does, benefits, negatives and so on?
And is there a root for the HDC One, I got this one, dont know what version it is:

Thx in advance! Rooting helps with several things. Basically it gives you 'special privileges' and write permissions in /system. Some examples:
- being able to uninstall System apps
- copy/delete/change files in /system
- backup and restore your app's data (useful when switching between ROMs or phones)
- make CPU governor changes
- reboot from within Android straight into recovery with Quick Boot from Play.
There aren't really any negatives. While some people brick their phones trying to install new firmwares and such, the current root methods shouldn't present that issue. Also, some sellers frown on rooting and may use it as an excuse to not warranty you. Though this isn't usually the case with China sellers.

MTK Droid Tools is useful for a few things. Backing up your phone's firmware, creating CWM custom recovery so you can flash SD Update ROMs/patches etc..., and some people have had success rooting their phones with MTK Droid Tools as well.

Download 'root checker' from Play. Most of the root threads link to a tutorial on each step required.
