This is a test to see what 3G WCDMA bands this phone really supports.
Thanks to Gizbeat for the testing method suggestions.
I turned off my Wi-Fi and turned on my mobile data. I loaded up the mobile uncle MTK tools app and went into the band mode for sim 1. I then selected only umts 1900 (the 4 GSM bands would not allow me to deselect them but that is not an issue because my provider does not have a backup gsm/2g network. It's 3G or nothing) I restarted the phone and went back into mobile uncle and confirmed it was still set to just 1900. Then showed my signal strength with the h+ icon, loaded a browser and went to a site for proof.
Hopefully other china phone makers will make 850/1900 available on their phones now as well.

Wow man. Excellent results. I wonder if we can do one more thing. Do you have access to a SIM for a carrier that is 3G via 850 only? I want to confirm that 850MHz is actually being turned off.

Unfortunately I don't have one on 850 only. Ive still been looking for other testing methods or apps for this purpose but your method is the only one I've come across.

It was solid on MT6589. I'm 100% sure it's a valid method to test. If 850WCDMA was disabled, 3G was gone. So it 110% was shutting down 850.
But here we have a situation where it's a different SoC, and an extremely remote possibility of still connecting on 850WCDMA.
For me it's easily enough proof to purchase the phone if I was concerned about having 1900. IMO, it's been proven. But to recommend it to others.... I think we have a responsibility to 110% verify it prior to recommending purchasing a $300 phone.
Are there any 850MHz only WCDMA providers in your location?

Agreed. We need to be 100%. My mistake, I thought the method was for sure. But with that test and the card in the box saying it does 1900 WCDMA and the fact that the h9008 is a mlais mx69 pro Oem(which is 1900 wcdma according to the manufacturer and every site I've been on) I'd say I'm pretty sure the test was accurate.
I don't have a provider here that is just 850 so I can't double check that way.

You didn't make any mistake man. The method is 100%. If you disable the frequencies in engineering, they are disabled.
I'm a bit OCD. I like to test things beyond all refutable doubt. Your test was proof enough for me. I just always like to try and take it that one step further if time permits / if possible.
