i was expecting better photos from an 8 mp camera (cubot p7)

good morning to all,

just recently i have bought the cubot p7 mobile since i wanted a better phone but i am very disappointed from the camera quality

the taken photos have very low contrast, muted colors and too much noise

it seems that different settings does not help either

the closeup photo it seems that is taken with a 2 mp camera !

the auto focus is really fast and precise while the led flash is too weak

The MP has very little to do with quality. And are normally interpolated. So for example if they quote 8, it is probably really 5 or maybe 3. Anyways, its quality, not quantity.

I've taken a look at your pics and you're right, they're not so great. But they look about right for a $100 phone.

Next year is only a couple months away luckily

Also, I should mention I don't know for sure about this model regarding megapixels, I'm just speaking generally. Anyways, as mentioned its not really about megapixels. Quality of sensor and lens is more important.

i have been told by a friend that it is possible to upgrade my mobile firmware to a new one for a much better camera quality

You can use a different app for different processing effects, but the base picture will not be better than with stock app.

As far as I know, there's no way to determine whether the picture is interpolated or true optical resolution or what the true resolution of the camera is. For a $100 phone, its likely 2 or 3. Maybe 5, but kess likely.

As I said before, the mp are of little concern. Much more important is quality of the sensor.

I saw that the OnePlus One which has a 13 megapixel camera can use software to extrapolate its pictures to a whopping 50 megapixels. It's about time these Chinese companies stopped marketing phone cameras using their extrapolated resolutions.
