newby about to flash new mt6752 via flashtool, help!
#1
hello, i just received my new ulephone be touch 2, mt6752 and something is wrong with the rom. I need to flash it but do this without windows. I do have ubuntu 15.04 installed and a flashtool (latest 64 bit) abd.. and sorts.

but the only time i flashed a rom is at least 8 years ago and things have changed since than. a lot. As it is a brand new phone i don't wanna loose warrenty but the factory supplied means is all windows based. a no go for me unfortunately, i would if i could.

so i'm really looking for a kind soul that is willing to guide me through the entire process. as said i'm done it once a long time ago (htc hero 1) . so able to, but not confident enough to start the process with out back up. i just can't afford (time wise and financially wise) to brick this phone.

is if some one know a good complete tutorial or a soul who's willing to be a back up.. i would be really really appreciative.

i've allready looked into this thread.. but it seems just a little bit to much off-topic for me. maybe i'm wrong but. i just need to be at the least confident before i start [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

ps: i also would really like to avoid rooting, at least untill i flashed inte a working rom and know hoe to. afterwards than i'm interested in rooting, maybe. but i just want to keep warrenty till after it's running properly

Hello Spikey, welcome to the forum.

--- First of all, what's wrong with your current ROM?

--- Second, Ulefone often puts out their own customized version of SP Multi-port flash tool combined with the ROM to flash. The tools all more or less do the same thing, but please link to the ROM you want to flash so I can check it's legitimacy.

For basic flashing, download this newest flashtool

Follow this tutorial. If you're very sure it's the right ROM for your phone, then you can select all parts of the ROM.

Here is a video from Gizbeat

As i said though, often Ulefone puts out their own all in one flash package. so could you provide a link to the ROM so can check it.

yeah basically i was thinking about using the rom from the flash package supplied by ulefone for windows. seems like the rom should be the same.. wrong thought? I like to keep it as official as possible!

what's wrong? a "your system was damaged wireless update is disabled" error message.. link in this link. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

i installed the latest version of that software for linux 64 bit yesterday. directly from what seemed to be the official site. SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Linux_x64_v5.1532.00.100

i will look at the tutorial video!

unfortunately (i just didn't expect a respons so quickly) have an exam (important one) coming monday.. so i will need to get my attention into this first. i'l be using the phone as it is till than. just want to use this time to get informed so i know what i'm stating with.

hope i gave you enough info, please tell me if i have things wrong.

allready very appreciative, kind regards Matthieu

This package will likely carry the full ROM and flash tool, but probably for Windows. You can *likely* flash with the flash tool you linked to below, but you *might* be better off using a Windows machine and flashing with Ulefone's package.

I think you may linking to the wrong thread there. I don't see anything in that thread regarding wireless update is disabled. However, that message is generally due to being rooted that OTA doesn't work. Are you getting that message? Is that what's wrong with your ROM now?

It's rather simple, remove battery, replace battery. Load scatter. Connect phone. Click download. It's very difficult to hard brick these phones. Though I've done it once or twice.

i understand.. i would love too if i could, but my version of windows 8.1, doesn't let me install the drivers. i tried about 4 or 5 work arounds.. it just doesn't work it doesn't install.

yes i'm getting that message, and you get this message when you try to OTA, on the facebook site from ulefone community we were with three of use having exactly the same problem. flashing helped for the other two but as i can't flash it with windows becuase of issues mentioned before i haven't been able to fix it.

by the way, all three of us got the phones from different suppliers at different points in time.

that why i want to know what i'm doing before i start i feel i will be capable of bricking (soft or hard) as i really don't know what i'm doing yet.

kind regard matt

i really hate the situation i'm in.. no windows, no clear option avalialable via ubuntu, no clue what i'm doing and no time to really dive in to it. and not the finances as safety net when things go wrong..

again thank you.

I'm still not clear exactly what the problem is with your current ROM. Are you getting the message "system appears to be damaged" when you try to OTA?

A safe way to flash is to just download (opposed to firmware upgrade) the key parts of the ROM... like system.img and boot.img. instead of flashing the whole thing. It's really very simple. Just take it one step at a time.
