[ROM] Vernee Apollo X - STOCK ROM and TWRP

I have just tried twice to root my Apollo X, the flashing tool says it has been done but when I press volume up and power buttons I get the 3 option of Recovery, Fastboot and Normal, I use the volume up to select Recovery and volume down to accept it, the phone just reboots. When I check for root using Root Checker it confirms that root access is not properly installed.
Can you please give me some advice.
