At this time the root is not stable. Only semi-functioning. The issue does not appear to be with TWRP, but with the Vernee ROM or the way with which boot.img is patched via SuperSU.
Backup, restore, mount, installing .zips all work without issue. For these functions it's fine, however at this time we do not recommend rooting. If anyone has anything to add to the discussion - successes, failures, ideas, you're welcome to post them here.
Also would like to note that "jumping the gun" was entirely my fault. I submitted results to Cleopatra without fully testing all root functionality.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
