For this new method, you will need to be

rooted

ADB drivers installed

USB debugging enabled

MTK Droid Tools downloaded (see tools forum for that).
If you get through all those steps:

attach phone to PC with USB

MTK Droid Tools bottom-left square should be yellow and say "SU" is accessible if properly rooted.

click "Root" in MTK Droid Tools in bottom-right corner

allow any SU permission requests on your phone

MTK Droid Tools bottom left corner square should turn green

click "IMEI/NVRAM" button

put your new IMEI in

click "okay" to change

click reboot in bottom-right of MTK Drood Tools

wait for phone to fully reboot

look at IMEI in MTK Droid Tools, it should be as you changed it

If this is confusing at all, just be patient, I should have a video tutorial up in about 2 hours.
Thanks a ton. I have successfully changed my phone's IMEI # using Droid tool. I have been struggling for over a week with this phone, flashing ROMs and etc., Thanks for restoring my phone. Thanks a lot for your clear steps and for your precious time helping people like me.
Thanks,
Joe
