Maybe it would also be a good idea to point new users to the search function inside the forum.
Many questions are asked over and over again because new users don't seem to take the trouble of searching for a similar question just because it takes some more time.
A good example being this:
that would not only constitute hijacking but also redundancy as that question has already been answered many times and can easily be found just by a simple search.
It really amazes me now many people use google but don't seem to bother using a sites own searching engine, even though some sites do no permit google to index their pages.
