<li>Of Mice and Men - Steinbeck
<li>Many books by Elmore Leonard
<li>The Grapes of Wraith - Steinbeck
<li>Magician's Apprentice - Raymond E. Feist

Okay. That's more than 3, but figured I'd make it easy on some of you who may not read too much
. I can't really remember most of them, other than some bits and pieces and basic premise, but I do remember they affected me at the time and are the first ones that come to mind.
