It was solid on MT6589. I'm 100% sure it's a valid method to test. If 850WCDMA was disabled, 3G was gone. So it 110% was shutting down 850.
But here we have a situation where it's a different SoC, and an extremely remote possibility of still connecting on 850WCDMA.
For me it's easily enough proof to purchase the phone if I was concerned about having 1900. IMO, it's been proven. But to recommend it to others.... I think we have a responsibility to 110% verify it prior to recommending purchasing a $300 phone.
