They've now included 'tabs' which defaults to splitting your email into 'Promotions' and 'Social'. Tabs are a fine option, but Google is absolutely retarded in automatically setting default tabs without asking if it's okay.
If you go with this setup, you'll now need to click an extra once, twice, thrice on the different tabs to see your new mail. I immediately disabled this silly new setup.
