Hi all,
This has already been discussed, but I found a fix under XDA forum for screen light sensor,
i guess this is not working with 4.2.1 stock,
any kind of solution for this problem yet?
Regards,
Sam

These fixes are very firmware specific. They must be used with the exact firmware they were made for or you'll soft brick.
The best all around fix is Velis or using Firmware that properly applies the limited values the kernel returns. That's as good as it gets for the moment. Actually 4.1.2 had the biggest range of values, but they weren't properly applied. Stock 4.1.2 combined with Velis was quite good. They screwed it up further with 4.2.1.

And sorry I could not travel both

And looked down one as far as I could

Thanks for your response first of all,
Any kind of fixes already for 4.2.1 ?
It's really annoying not having a good light sensor and have to press the switch light button..

As I said, Velis app or use firmware that has the fix embedded. DzYhn... Samsung w/xperia I believe have the fix embedded. KTK has some fixes as well. I use Velis app. The big problem is the values that the kernel returns. In 4.2.1 there are essentially only 3 useful stop points and it doesn't differentiate from pitch black and a lit room.

OK Thanks Gibeat
i'm trying to configure (using the other post from forum) velis but without success so far, it doesn't read sensors, not light sensor neither proximity sensor....
probably something with installed fw
gotta do lots of tries first...
regards

Which firmware are you on now...? There is a short tutorial on settings in another thread in the 7500+ forum. But depending on firmware, your values may be different.
You need to manually edit the graph.
You can see if your light sensor has any values at all by looking at the top of the main screen. Does it show a reading? Should say something like 800/10000

I also recommend Lux, which is the app I am using.
The problem with many devices seems to be the light sensor itself, or the light sensor driver.
However, with Lux, you can use the front facing camera as your light sensor. This is what I do, and works perfectly.

I had a problem using Lux on my S7589. The light sensor seemed to stick at the last value rather than ever refreshing. I used the front camera for a while too, but that got annoying. Ultimately I contacted the vendor and found that changing the setting from "On Wake" to "Dynamically" resolved this issue.
