I have two.
My HTC One V doesn't have that much grunt so I use Smart Launcher. It's quick and tidy.
For my HX9299A I use Yandex.Shell. Lots of eye candy and runs very smooth & quick.

I used Apex or Nova for a long time, I got bored with the look, so I changed it to Launcher 8. It looks like a win8 launcher but with android features, fast and customizable.

Stock is okay. No gesture options and not as easy to import your homescreen setup to a new phone or when you change ROMs. Give Apex a try, set up a gesture or 2 and you'll never look back.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Apex all the way. Not only is it similar to the stock launcher, but adds a few features which I pretty much require. Like no scroll wallpaper, delete multiple home screens and so on.
