If you are "mobile" and can't use bluetooth PC etc to type commands into your Android a good terminal and a good keyboard make it easier
Here I recommend hacker's keyboard ---
&hl=en
Supports multiple language/layouts
has FAQ etc
What I like most is all the keys that I need are on the keyboard
Long press 8 to get to *
Long press the # to get to pipe symbol = |
Long press other keys to see a huge range of other input characters
And wait for it......its got an UP ARROW
that means you can press the up arrow to get to previous input commands
How neat is that!
I am in love.
EDIT
To change to Hacker's keyboard go into system settings and make 2 changes
touch 1 and a pop up appears to choose default keyboard
touch the box for 2 to make the second change
############
alternative way to get * is to press the shift key ( the up arrow bottom left corner of image)
