Hi

@"mirandam"
for the following
Before doing anything to your phone:
1. Read the forum
2. Search and read the forum
3. Get the correct setup for connecting your phone to your pc by....: reading the forum and getting it right
4. Make a complete backup of your phone by... yes: reading the forum and getting it right
5. Check your backup is working
6. Make sure you have another stock rom of your phone, apart from your backup, and make sure it is the right one
7. Read the forum again (get the idea?) to make sure you know what's at stake before trying to flash anything at all
8. Make another backup of your phone and try to flash that backup to make sure you understand everything to get your phone working again in case of failure in the process.
9. Make a backup of all your working backups on dvd or another media not actively connected to your pc, you'll be amazed at how many people lose their backup just because of a power-outage.
10. Now go ahead and try that great custom rom you've seen, and be sure to post your experiences on this great forum and give reputation to those that helped you, and donate a beer if you feel like it
################################
Can I also add to the wise words by mirandam that for some trying to root their phone.
search for the actual error message you are seeing please.
time wasters often start posting and refuse to mention that they know they have an error and the contents of the error message.
Do not make this mistake please.
post the actual contents of the error message or attach a decent photo of it please.
################
They may need to read the rooting forum,
they may need to install a custom recovery to "update" chainfire's zip file,
---so CWM forum may come into play
OR the Tutorials forum may come into play.
they may need to flash that custom recovery using flashtools
--so MTK general tools may come into play
they may need to read Linux corner if they use Linux and can't use Windows
Which is a long way of saying exactly what she said which is to read the forums.

We were all new once, but nothing gets up my goat more than a hijack of a post.
Thread hijacking is the act of taking a forum discussion thread wildly off topic by discussing a subject entirely unrelated to the subject at hand. Modest hijacking is known as OFF TOPIC and is also discouraged in the main forums.Let me give example of hijacking.
I have an Iocean X7 HD....pretend I post
and you reply
Its a hijack.
############
Regular members who kind of know each other may tease one another from time to time.....but thats humour and has a different effect from hijacking
###############
It gets ugly when a new poster asks a question and a second and third member ask slighly different questions to OP.
Moderators please consider .......
split off such replies......as some posters are using
google translate and will struggle with replies that might appear to be an answer to their question.
this can be prevented by not hijacking
cheers

trivia
Also we get new members here who actually use google search and find a link to our forum and a particular post.
If hijacking is tolerated, it damages CPA reputation.
I am guilty of hijacking some posts myself so don't claim to be an angel.
