Thanks so much, I love forums. I grabbed the flash tool you linked to and I will have another go.

It is working now. When droid tools has finished do I have to flash that file to the phone to get cwm?

I said yes to build cwm. I flashed it using scatter file but it has no cwm installed?

I seem to have got cwm on but now it will not mount sd card from cwm and if i try when phone is on it fails to copy to it too. I sent it via google drive but when trying to flash su zip it says cant mount sd again. Not sure why that is. I seem to have made quite a mess of this phone LOL

sdcard can only be mounted by one device, whilst mounted by one device it can not be mounted by a second device. To keep it simple you know how to remove battery or turn off phone?

Assuming flashtools built a cwm for you....name it
recovery-cwm.img.....all in lower case on your pc

Put your sdcard into a card reader into your pc and copy the file onto it. Put sdcard back into phone and restart it

install mobileuncle on android

S850 is 16gb internal and no sd slot or removable battery. It seems internal partion table is corrupt. Cwm will not install anything as it will not mount internal sd.

Hmm, siewarner won't be able to use mobileuncle for that. He's working on getting the phone rooted through CWM.

Ahh, I missed the part where you do not have an external SD. OK, hang on, I'll get back to you.

@aus9 , can he use ADB to sideload SuperSU?

Please find out how you got into fastboot and post how you did it please.

I got into fastboot by mistake and can get back in. I used minimal to fastboot reboot.

I can install Cwm but no further. If I connect to pc I can view the contents but disk manager does not show any partition? It shows a small 40mb one which contains a lenovo tool but that will not install either.

I think you will have to address the corrupt internal partition problem first. Can you post your scatter file? In spoiler tags or as a file like you did on the other post.
You're right, you won't be able to install anything with the partition issue.
Did you format with Flash tool before you downloaded the ROM?

It went wrong after I uninstalled a few system apps as it came out of the box rooted and running vibeui 2.0. I got the security issue. I then installed a rom from needrom which did not work just a black screen with dl image fail! message.

I searched everywhere for a stock rom and only found one on a russian lenovo forum which is on now. I did format before installing it using sp tool and again yesterday. Now the sd issue and I still have the no imei problem.

Scatter file is attached.

ROM builder claims you remove battery but I gather you can NOT do that?

2) but if it is truly the official rom,
we can use fastboot to flash all

Please answer the question .....tell us exactly how you get in.

I have no confidence in instructing you how to use fastboot if we take a casual attitude......I am grumpy at the moment for other reasons

I downloaded a a fastboot tool to flash a twrp recovery from lenovo russia forum. That does not work but it puts it into fastboot mode. I have it in fastboot now and fastboot reboot kicks it out again.

The rom linked above does not work. It fails so I am using this one - [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

Its not what came with it though.

This is the version that was installed from factory - vibeui_v9.5_9422_3_st_s850 but I cant find that anywhere online.
