About Kitkat I don't think so, because MTK must release the driver files for 6582 and as far as I know they will never do it. The first MTK chip with 4.4 support will be the 6592 at the summer of 2014.

exactly. thats what i wanted to say
if lenovo and some other les popular brands, released mtk6582 phone with kitkat rom, this means mediatek releases kernel source only for companies. and inew might have it right now and they might be working on it, (as the inewmobile.com claims inew engineers are testing kitkat on v3)

For me is curious too. I do not know what they did (Lenovo) but it is sure that MTK did not have kitkat files for their hardware yet.
Only for the 6592 they build but it will not be open source files (for someone to take it and modify it for other HW)
Are we sure it is true 4.4 version? (i mean at that Lenovo phone)
