Can we use a different battery in the iNew v3?
so nikstar if i understood correctly you had the one which looks like the original w8 battery.
you ground off about half a millimeter on top with sandpaper to make it fit not so tight. but it fits in the phone also without doing that.
is this correct?

and kokuo was showing the black replacement model which has plastic covers on top and bottom which you can remove. after removing the top cover you also have to remove the connector pins by desoldering them or file them off with a non-metallic file. correct?

The battery can fit tight if you did not sandpaper it. But it will be better if you reduce its high for a half millimeter.
The attached pic is showing the battery in the phone before I sandpaper it a little bit.

I do not know what is the problem of this guy, but I never judge his method, and I never say anything about his English. He is the one that "blame" my english and and he said I am blaming his video.

I do not know why he involved politics on this and also my financial level. I am traveling for business many times per year in Italy and everybody knows, they are deep into the crisis too. Look who's talking!

Probably he is just a spoiled kid and we don't have to pay attention at his words.

I won't reply to anything you said apart the arguments that are pertinent to the topic we are dealing with here (that is the battery mod).

Now, my friend, could you please explain to the entire forum that what you did was removing just the plastic "cap" from the upper part of the battery (the one with the contacts) and with "cap" I mean just a piece of it, the "cap" indeed, not the ENTIRE plastic thingy?

Once you did it, is it true that using the soldering iron on the contacts (the 3 pins of the battery) it is possible to remove the last millimeter to finally have a fitting THL W8 battery to use on iNew V3?

Now, my dear friend, could you please tell to the entire forum if the procedure you watched on the video I posted, even if in Italian, was the proper one and was feasible on your "different" battery too?

Who said what, at the end, is always judged by the web, being a spoiled kid or a 20 years experienced technician.

P.S. Never spoke about politic. What I said was that the situation in Greece is really, really bad now and that could be the cause of your anger. I don't talk about politic on forums, never did and will never do.

Cheers
kok

The plastic cover is present on every battery. Even the one owned by nikstar had the plastic cover (he removed it or it was removed by the guy who sold the battery to him). You can clearly see the remaining glue on the photos he posted (bottom right part)...

Cristal clear guys... what else to add?

Cheers

guys, i really tried to take the steam out here by summing up your two opinions.
please dont spoil this thread and make yourself look like dumbasses.
we are glad that you tested this and devised your methods of how to alter the according batteries, but please believe me in the end it does not matter who started the argument or who was more rude or who's english is better,
you are not doing yourself a favor here.
like i said before, don't use the forum to fight publicly but if you really must do this use the private messages instead.
OK? thanks

I'm just trying to explain that there is not a third thl w8 battery model out there.
The point is that if somebody comes here and reads the posts he may think that the procedure shown in the video won't be valid for every (THL W8) battery he may buy.
This is not the case. The procedure described in the video will work on every existing battery for the THL W8.

I'm done with the rest.

Cheers

Are you really this desperate that you would endanger your and other prople' health because you are unhappy with the battery life of your phones?

If it doe not fit use sandpaper seems to be extremely dangerous to me especially with we all know how it may end up fire catching batteries.

I pulled the plug and sell mine because of the not optimal battery, despite the fact that I did buy two non fitting ThL W8 batteries. Messing with those to mane them fit? No way. But of course it is up to you.

You are totally confused.
Didn't you ever thought that the situation to Italy can make you behaive like this?????
Let the other people decide if this is political comment, it looks like you are to young to understand it.

Now I am sure, you have a serious vision problem!
Can you mark on my photo where you saw the remaining glue and makes you think that something has been removed from there????
You should read and think more before you make a conclusion for something!

yeah, sanding off 0.5mm of a piece of plastic that covers the battery will make it explode....
batteries are not explosive devices, if handled correctly you can modify a lot more than that.

I agree though that it is necessary to be very careful when handling a battery and performing any alterations.
removing covers and sanding off a teeny bit of plastic will not harm the battery, if you pay attention not to short out the connectors.

if the phone keeps selling like this i am pretty sure sooner or later there will be a replacement battery with larger capacity. i for one will wait for that. (and i am an engineer and know how to modify a battery safely)

There is no way to catch fire by using a sandpaper on the battery.
More dangerous is to use a soldering iron. The batteries can stand no more than a 1'- 2' of the soldering iron.
Anything more can destroy the battery or at worst case scenario the chemicals will boiled and the battery will explode.
I have a personal experience with an explosion of cell battery when I touch it with the soldering iron. I am not saying that will happened every time but it is good to have it on mind when you are using soldering iron on batteries.
If you don't know what are you doing, then don't do it!
