iNew V3 battery problems
#41
(2014-01-20, 14:34)GeekGirl Wrote: these cells are in fact not supposed to be charged fully and beyond/above any value of 4.2v at all as it will decrease lifetime alot because these cells are build for 4.2 volt (with an absolute maximum of 4.35 destroy voltage) just responded on what you wrote or tried by quoting, that trying to charge/push beyond 4.2v with some cheap unprotected charger is not doing any good to these cells, also i am aware and said that the internal circuit of the Inew V3 is a bit weak (mostly because of safety against battery stress) but its also generally known that li-ion circuits give problems charging when the device is switched on because it destorts the charge cycle treshold so it is better and advised to switch the device off as it works just as good as any good protected external charger without the need to take the battery off, but i am repeating now so i stop writing about the charger or batteries lol i dont mind at all just tried to help Blush

I would just like to say thanks for explaining in such a good way Smiling

But something not right anyway... jpower73's goes even beyond the 4.35V... how to explain that? the power management circuit of this phone is completely bananas... or even maybe a kernel issue?

Mine only ever goes to 4.2v, then it sits there at 88%, sometimes it does go to 100%, but either way, going to 100% or not, after i unplug it it drops to under 4.1v and close to 4v in just some 5min. So something is not right there... it drops 0.2v too fast.

yes something is not right with that one indeed Undecided as you can clearly see this value is in red color not for nothing in his du battery saver capture, normally it may never ever exceed 4.35v since it is the absolute maximum charge, so my guess is something is really wrong with his device or he tried to pre-charge it externally first.. really dont understand why people are so fixed to boost it to the maximum it is just not healty for the battery and will shorten lifetime or kill the battery

Have you already tried to charge it while the device is switched off like suggested above? it should always go to 100% pretty fast

Yes typical & normal li-ion cell behavour is they drop millivolts fast at the beginning when charge drain is cut off but should slow down. just check a full de-charge first to see if you have some problem with your battery

I have n't used external (pre charger) method. The only thing i did is to hit the calibration button each time i get a value close to 4,3 v.
Since i succeded more than this, i wont use it any more.

I'll post more images, if you dont mind. (just in case something is going wrong with my device)

Warning: the ThL W8 batteries do not fit this iNew V3 phone. I have tried the battery of my colleague's ThL W8 Beyond. The ThL W8 batteries are about 1mm longer and cannot be installed in a V3 phone Sad.

Do not buy ThL W8 batteries for this phone (the battery contacts are the same, the batteries look similar, but the ThL W8 battery is longer).

ye, not worried of it going more than 4.2v as that's what all my previous phones charged to.

Ye, off i think it does charge to 100% faster, but coincidentally i noticed it only after a batterystats wipe, but maybe it has nothing to do with it...

ok, some mv i would accept, but i'm talking about hundreds of mv. Even if it's like that, the battery charge goes from around 3.3v to 4.2 which makes the 0-100% charge vary in a 0.9v scale, if i lose almost 0.2v in less than 5min, it drops from 100% to 88% or so in less than 5min which is what's happening in my case and none of my previous phones behaved like that.

all this debate about maximum voltage achieved may be great, but this phone has a very real problem with battery use, it drains at an unacceptable rate of about 10% per hour with no use, or barely no use, it seems as if some circuit discharges constantly the battery, no matter how you charge it ..

autonomy is dreadful, this phone is startint to be an ass in the pain ... i am seriously thinking of sending it back to the seller, camera gives awful pictures in interiors and battery drains as if it were shortcircuited

That looks quite much yes :S i didnt logged or noticed any short battery life yet but just looked and still have 67% left 9,42 hours
after it was disconnected from the charger and with wifi turned on etc without having any battery saver installed yet,
have you checked that you dont have some heavy battery draining app? some apps will still drain battery in the bg when you dont use your device

there are quite some known (background) battery draining apps, the reason mentioning these are because they have more battery usage than is showed in an battery monitor app

Google Play (tries constantly to get your contact list and location)
Whatsapp, Skype, Wechat and other social media/chat apps (constant update traffic to and from their servers)

even when you minimised/closed these apps they still keep draining your battery invisibly
because they need and use a socket connection and rf hardware

here for the ones who like more useful tips/facts to improve battery time,

1. Connect your phone to the pc with an Usb cable, then you see the usb connection icon left on top, slide it down and select Charge only "Stop all Usb functions Lets you speed up Charging and decrease power consumption"

2. At settings goto Wifi and click on the menu button, then select Advanced, there deselect "Network Notification" and set Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep to "Only When Plugged In" (default is always)
also check if Wifi optimization is set to "minimize Battery Usage"

3. Download and open Mobileuncle, Choose Engineer Mode (MTK) then from the Telephony Tab scroll down and choose RAT Mode and the Sim and set prefered network type to "GSM" this can save upto 50% battery on Cellphone use) or
if you need/prefer 3G etc set to "GSM/WCDMA (WCDMA Prefered)" if the right network is choosen your drain will be less because it interacts more efficient and less with the right cell towers
and optionally you could disable some Band Modes wich you dont need,
also keep in mind that it helps your batterylife alot if you always put your phone on a place where the most signal is indicated! because when your phone receives a low gsm and/or wifi signal
it needs to send (re-sends) more packets from and to the tower also your phone will increase rf transmitting power resulting in a much faster discharging battery

4. Switch off the vibrate function

5. Switch off NFC when you dont need it

6. Ignore if your phone tells you that the battery is full since it is not accurate if the battery is not initialized, just wait 20 more minutes

7. Turn your phone off while charging (it charges better and faster) always use the stock charger and not an Usb cable

8. Remove the charge cable, Dont charge your mobile when you are using it! it will cause a faster discharge

9. Avoid fully discharging a li-ion battery! life is shortened every time you fully discharge them.
Instead, always charge them when the low battery indicator is popping up, using them longer is not doing any good (15-20%) 40% for spares.

10. New batteries start to perform better after you used (charged/discharged) them a few times

Yes if you are dissapointed and unhappy with this phone you are right to send it back but myself i am happy with it upto now Smiling there is no doubt that there are better phones or cameras but do cost alot more ofcourse, as anyone knows for this low amount of money you can never expect best of the best and about specs are not always true so they must be verified this is not only the case with products from china but also european. it just happens more often with cheaper products,
you will get where you pay for with that in mind i was pleasantly suprised, the looks and all these features like Nfc, Bt4, also the camera looks nice altough i didnt tried or used it much yet, if need an professional camera dont use any phone.

Agree with GeekGirl here on all fronts.

But one easy was i've found is to use DS Battery Saver Pro. I've used this tool on most phones for some time. How is it different to other savers...in 'agressive' mode it forces deep sleep of wifi, data, sync, etc when the screen is off, waking up data connections at a scheduled period. Your comment on the drops without use - I don't get this at all using DS. % loss only happens when i' actually 'using' the phone.

Another thing I have noticed - even on the lowest brightness setting the screen is still very bright in comparison to others on the market. This can also affect battery use for other reasons. I apply a screen filter to dim the screen a little more when not using for any great purpose. This also helps.
