Dont know if this was posted before but i find it as an interesting thing and want to share it with u guys.
How about downloading stuff from google play directly to the pc.
This can be done using a chrome or firefox extention and its preety easy to achieve.
1. get the extention:
For Chrome (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/apk-downloader/cgihflhdpokeobcfimliamffejfnmfii?hl=en&gl=VN)
For Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/apk-downloader)
2. find your Device ID *#*#8255#*#* --> it showld be somthing like DeviceID: android-1234567890abcdef, you need just the 123...def part
3. go to seting->extentions and cick on options then input your gplay login data and device id and login.
4. visit [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] and search for wanted app ... lets say soundcloud, click on it
5. surprise surprise next to the install button you see a download apk button.

Hmm... Maybe I'm missing something, but what is the point of this...

Just seems like adding a lengthy several steps to the install process. After transferring to SD you need to navigate to the apk and install it.

How about wanting to decompile apk's or adding them to your custom rom ?
