If you're having trouble hearing the other person:
In engineering mode, try to adjust audio > normal mode > sph
You can enter engineering mode through Gravity Box, Mobile Uncle Tools, or by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*
If this doesn't work out, recommend trying the newest firmware for your phone if you're not already on it.
