[Tip] Flash Cubot X9 with non-removable battery - WearySky - 2015-01-29 Aaaand one last comment for any other Cubot X9 owners out there - make sure you have the right drivers! On my home PC, one of my drivers is wrong (the preloader driver, I think), so when I try to flash CWM recovery only in SP flash tool, it gets some weird error (which I forgot to write down, but something involving DA not matching up, I think?), and then becomes completely unresponsive. Everything else works (readback works, and format and download of a full rom works, for example), but if you try to flash the CWM created by MTK droid tools with the wrong driver it gets into this weird state. It shows up in device manager as "Mediatek DA USB VCOM Port (COM6)", but flash tools and mtk droid tools don't recognize it when it gets into this state. And here is where the Cubot X9's lack of removable battery becomes a factor, now you just have to wait until the battery dies before you can get back to re-flashing with the right drivers installed. Cubot thoughtfully sealed up the case with pentalobe screws (shakes fist in Cubot's direction), and nowhere local sells pentalobe screwdrivers, unfortunately, so I just have to wait. Super irritating. RE: [Tutorial] Ultimate no-root backup CWM MT6582 MT6592 MT6589 MT6589T MT6577 MT6595 - Sniper47 - 2015-01-30 Thanks for these tips on Cubot X9. I like the run the battery down till it's dead so you can flash it RE: [Tip] Flash Cubot X9 with non-removable battery - fantastico - 2015-01-30 Wow, this is so helpful. Thanks, man. RE: [Tip] Flash Cubot X9 with non-removable battery - WearySky - 2015-01-30 I'm actually going to write up a quick tutorial on rooting, after my trials and tribulations of the last few days hopefully it can help a few people. But basically, you *have* to do the CWM route (I couldn't find a quick root that worked), and you need an external SD card. But I'll get all the details when I do my tutorial RE: [Tip] Flash Cubot X9 with non-removable battery - ladismantler - 2015-02-05 I was able to successfully root when I first got the phone. After doing an OTA update, I can't get into TWRP, even after trying to root again. Has anyone rooted after doing a OTA update? RE: [Tip] Flash Cubot X9 with non-removable battery - glofish - 2015-03-31 Gosh, i've been through a hell 12 hours thinking I bricked my 2 weeks old Cubot. Having the exact same problem but I do have the set of screwdrivers necessary so popped open the back and disconnected the battery. My only wonder is where to get right preloader drivers for the Cubot X9? Thanx for the help RE: [Tip] Flash Cubot X9 with non-removable battery - cookiedough - 2015-03-31 (2015-03-31, 18:17)glofish Wrote: Gosh, i've been through a hell 12 hours thinking I bricked my 2 weeks old Cubot. All you need is your stock ROM. How did you brick your phone originally? Do you have your stock ROM? RE: [Tip] Flash Cubot X9 with non-removable battery - glofish - 2015-03-31 Originally it was a soft brick. Which required me to just remove battery then start afresh. Yeah, I have my stock ROM downloaded and i have seen this preloader file >> preloader_sinsoft92_cwet_kk.bin, Originally my drivers were not installed correctly then multiple tries later i finally got the right ones installed (involved uninstalling with usbdeview and reinstalling) I followed this tutorial and everything worked like a charm until i got both of the SP Flash tool 2005 and 5054 errors on the step of flashing my modified CWM ROM. Used the preloader file from the stock rom and i have installed the CWM rom with no worries!! Thanx for the idea!!
