First impressions: Landvo L200 - craniac - 2014-11-30 I recently bought a Landvo L200 recently from Gearbest. I think it cost about $85 with a discount code, and I paid $10 shipping because I live in the Gulf region of the Middle East and used Aramex, a shipping service. I bought the phone because my Huawei y511 had a cracked but serviceable screen, and my teen daughter needed my wife's phone, a Huawei Y300. I'm not a real Android Jedi, so these three phones are my only means of comparison. The Landvo cost less than the y511, is snappier, has a bigger, brighter screen and is louder. It came with a charger, cable, case and screen protector, in a decent, sturdy box. The phone had Kitkat pre-installed, and everything works fine. It has been stable, without random shutdowns. I would buy one again. The build quality feels similar to the Huawei phones. My wife noted that the Landvo is a bit thinner than her Y511. This is one of those things that I didn't think really mattered until I had the thinner phone in my hands, and it does make it a bit easier to hold and use. I have had minor problems with wifi connectivity. Basically, the phone is slower than my laptop when connected to the same router, but the same was true of the Y511 so there's something other than a hardware problem that I need to figure out. Other thoughts: the 8 megapixel front camera is comparable to my Lumix DF10 point when shooting in bright, perfect conditions. A vast improvement over the 5 mp phone on the Y511. Cons: There is one gig of internal memory. This means that even though I installed an app that moves software over to the external SD card, I still can't install everything I want because it runs out of space. I have been told there are assorted klunky workarounds for this and that part of the problem lies with the way that Kitkat handles memory. That's really my only complaint. My next phone will have more internal memory. Gearbest page for the phone: Quad core 1.5 ghz 5-inch screen RE: First impressions: Landvo L200 - twistyplain - 2014-11-30 The phone has great features for the price. Too bad there are some apps that won't let you install them on the external SD card. |
