Need help with my ALPS i9500... - tigerpcns - 2014-11-16

Hi all,

I needed some help from you guys.
I have this Samsung clone ALPS i9500 and I want to root it with a ROM which, I still, could't find nowhere. Can anybody tell me where to find it? (I was already in NeedRom but nothing came up...)

My phone has following (seen with Antutu Benchmark):

BRAND: ALPS
MODEL: GT-I9500
ANDROID VERSION: 4.2.2
CPU MODEL: MT6572
TYPE: 32bit
CORES: 4+4
ARCHITECTURE: ARM Cortex-A7
RENDERER: Mali-400 MP

I have also this issue that I seem not to be able to connect my phone via USB to the PC, although I installed the drivers for it, so my only option is to do it via the installed SD card...any other suggestion?

Thanks in advance!

ROM issue:
Is there a reason you want to root via flashing a ROM? Are you having difficulty with using the root tools?

I would also strongly recommend making a backup of your phone before doing anything else. It is quite difficult to find compatible ROMs when it comes to clone phones. So it is a very good idea to have a fully functional backup.

Go through these: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] once rooted

Driver Issues:
If you are to make a backup then you would require working drivers. It is a pretty common problem to have -- erroneous drivers. The usual suggestion is trial and error.

Uninstall your current drivers from Programs and Features. Also uninstall your phone's previous device ids using USBdeview. Download it from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
Then try installing a different driver.

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 there is a post in the tutorials section about disabling driver enhancement signature. It might help.

My apologies. I linked to the wrong backup guide. This is the backup guide for unrooted phones [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] (have also replaced the links above)

You can try rooting with the tools from the rooting tools forum, then do this method if you want. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

If you haven't gotten root access, Busybox won't function correctly for you.
How exactly can you not access your phone? Does the PC recognize it as a storage device, at least? Check that USB Debugging is enabled as well

When you connect the phone to PC, does the phone recognize it? Pull down the notifications bar and see if it is giving you options to choose what mode to connect to PC.

Hi,

I keep trying to connect via USB but none of the PC's seems to recognize any device. Checking also the notification bar and no icon is popping...

No clue at all because the cable is the same with which I connect to charge the phone and it works...

So, more and more I see that SD option to root is the most likely choice I have, right?

Thanks.
