Windows 8/8.1 Incompatibility Issues (Drivers and Droid Tools) - Athos - 2014-10-13

For users running Win8/8.1

A. Drivers:

If you are getting problems with driver installation, try disabling driver signature enforcement. The issues may manifest as outright installation failure or as random errors on Flash Tool.

1. Go to Change PC Settings >Update and Recovery >Recovery
2. Under Advanced startup, click Restart Now
3. Upon rebooting, select Troubleshoot >Advanced Options >Start Up Settings >Restart
4. Upon rebooting, select to disable driver signature enforcement, then wait for another reboot.
5. Trigger the auto-installation of drivers

If auto-installation (#5) still wont work, try the following (File path indicated is for driver pack found here [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] )

Uninstall all previous drivers from Control Panel and with USBdeview.

a. Go to Device Manager, click on Ports.
b. From the menu bar, select Action -> Add legacy hardware -> Next
c. Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
d. Select Show All Devices -> Next
e. Click on Have Disk -> Browse. Then point to ...\MTK_USB_ADB_Ultimate\All MTK USB Driver 2014\All MTK Drivers\MT65xx Preloader\Win7\usb2ser_Win7 or usb2ser_Win764 for 64-bit -> OK
f. Under Model select MediaTek DA USB VCOM Port
g. Repeat b-e and select model MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port

You will get an error upon adding legacy hardware, but should still allow you to finish the process. Just ignore those errors. Also ignore the yellow exclamation marks on the port icons. Just proceed with using flash tool.

In between installer attempts, uninstall previous installations using USBdeview [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] so that your PC won't get confused about which drivers to call upon USB connection.

B. MTK Droid Tools:

Some have had issues with Droid Tools, particularly indicating Cygwin error reports.

Download this [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
Alternate Download: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

1. Unzip the files. Copy the files from files_cygwin folder.
2. Go to your Droid Tools program folder. Traverse to MTK_Droid_Tools_253 > MtkDroidTools> files
3. Paste extracted files in the files folder. Choose to replace the existing .dll files.

Does Windows recognize the phone when you connect it? Check in Device Manager. If not, then you will have to reinstall drivers.

Do you uninstall the previous ones before trying out another driver? You should. And reboot in between installations. The download link to USBdeview is in the post above, if you do not have it yet.

What version of Droid Tools are you using? Have you tried switching versions?
Also, try running Droid Tools as administrator.

In usbdeview, you should see device names like yunOS, Mediatek, CDC, Linux something, all unrecognizable communication devices, and mass storage devices are usually also your phone.

Error 10: device cannot start? You should just ignore that.

My current setup looks like this.

.jpg   drivers.jpg (Size: 3.6 KB / Downloads: 1,189)
Those two ports are always there. Even when not connected to PC.

I just ignore the yellow exclamation marks. When I run SP flash tool, i can connect fine. For one phone, I need to hold down the power button while flashing.
For others, it is the volume down button they press. See this thread. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

But this setup only works if you are able to clean out all previous driver installations and phone IDs on Windows.

Athos man ty so much brother i manage to get sp flashtools working properly. And i flashed stock 4.4.2. rom to my doogee dg550 and flashing went fine. But i dont have rear camera and my sims are not detectable. I think my phone got newer version cameras probably. It came with 4.4.2 android and i was such a idiot trying to put some roms in it. I shouldnt touch anything Sad. Now my phone is practically useless without sims. ANy idea what to do bro? I have nvram backup also. Restored it but with no help.
I think that perhaps it´s not a camera software problem, but a hardware problem.
Maybe you device it´not full compatible with Android 4.4.x. (many other devices, like Cubot x6, are not).
In my humble opinion, to recover your device you need download the true stock rom for you device and flash using "Firmware Upgrade" option instead "Download all" (remember: partitions for Android J.B. and K.K. are different in size)

Hi, thanks for your help. I followed all the instructions and my phone was read by Sp Flashtool but it just remained at the red 100% until it showed error 4001 after about 20 minutes.
Any ideas?
