Windows 8 ADB VCOM / SP Flash Tool problems - [email protected] - 2013-05-22
Hi
I downloaded the Zopo Stock rom, European verson, 4.2 a few days ago. But i can't flash it to my phone. I am a comlete novice and i have no idea what i'm doing but i am trying to learn. I installed the PdaNet drivers, SP flash tool and downloaded the rom. The phone is visible in Device manager when i Connect it to the computer. I open the scatter in flashtool and follow the Gizbeat tutorial (unplug usb,turn off phone and so on). But nothing happens when i hit download button in flashtool on plug in usb. The computer is registering the phone but nothing happens. I have tryed different versons of flashtool, turned off anti-virus, firewall. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Unplug phone. Hit download or update firmware. Then plug in. Is that what you're doing?

I unplug phone, turn it off, hit download then plug it in. I got it to work when I rooted my phone, but then i was using Win 7.

Have you disabled digital driver signature? For flashtool you need MTK6589 USB VCOM drivers!
Open device manager, open flashtool, plug in your phone and install driver manually with open flashtool! First you have MT65xx Preloader in device manager for two seconds when you plug, double click and install driver manually. Then you should have MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port! Now it should be installed correctly.

The VCOM driver is now correctly installed. Only problem now is the error Message in flashtool when i try to flash the rom.
BROM ERROR : S_COM_PORT OPEN FAIL (1013)
(COM) Failed to open COM 5
When i Connect the phone the "PreLoader USB VCOM" port comes on for a few Seconds, then dissapeare,[/php] is this correct?

Preloader is only for a second or two visible, thats correct. Your phone is not detected at the correct port. Uninstall all MTK and ADB Devices with USBDeview, reboot your PC, and install VCOM driver again. Sometimes it does not always equal, be patient ;)

Too simple:
Find a PC with win7 or xp, once you have root and recovery you don't really need Flashtool anymore.

Have you started flashtool.exe as administrator? "com port open fail" ... this is a common error for this reason!
