UnBrick Cat B15 - jawara - 2014-07-29 Does anyone know where I can find the Scatter Text File for the Cat B15? I bricked mine today trying to swap the internal memory. I thought I made CWM backup but I didn't do it right. The good thing is that when I plug it into the computer the computer makes the sound. RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - WuddaWaste - 2014-07-29 Wow. I'd never heard of this phone until just now. It looks like a massively ruggedized phone. Great choice! Have you already tried to contact the manufacturer? I would guess that because CAT is a brand which exists in the USA, their customer support not be too shabby. Their website shows a 646 number, which maps to New York. Might want to send an email or phone call to them. RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - jawara - 2014-07-29 (2014-07-29, 05:40)WuddaWaste Wrote: Wow. I'd never heard of this phone until just now. The problem with the B15 is that it has a low internal memory (I wish I knew that before I bought it). I sent them an email this morning but I haven't gotten a reply yet. RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - Irish - 2014-08-05 The B15 is very easy to unbrick! search for the ROM (EMEA DS/SS<for ur phone) if u don't have a Backup and flash it with SP Flash Tool. The Scatter file u need is delivered with the Rom. U don't hav to be afraid, the scatter is the same and a how-to for SP Flash-Tool is easy to find. I would do it this way: no format and flash all files expect the nvram.bin. Boot into recovery and make a factory reset and reboot. (B15 should work) Then Root the device via MtkDroidTools and make a Backup with MtkDroidTools too. Then go back to SP Flash, perform a full format and use ur backup for reflash. believe me, u won't edit the nvram/imei manually. If you cannot get into Flash/Preloader-mode, don't worrie. Connect it with USB and leave it alone for about 10 minutes. In this time preloader should start on it's own... greetz, have fun RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - jawara - 2014-08-11 (2014-08-05, 12:47)Irish Wrote: The B15 is very easy to unbrick!I already mailed it back. Hopefully it won't cost too much to fix. However what I would like to know it how to use my external SD Card (class 10, 32GB) as the system memory because the phones memory is only 512KB. RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - aus9 - 2014-08-11 Irish I see you have the same beast as per Did you end up using that adapter? FWIW I am buying an micro-usb adapter that shorts pins 1 and 4 to put "some" devices into fastboot mode with no battery attached. But its at least 2 weeks ETA RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - 1ikhan - 2014-08-14 Jawara, I recall you wrote a post about swaps and using the SD card as ram a day or two ago. I am certain the phone you are using (the kernel, to be specific) doesn't support SD card swaps. Once you get your phone back, I recommend don't try to swap again. Also. in any case, use MTK Droid Tools to back up your phone. MTK Droid Tools: [snip] Instructions: [snip] [Edit: both Droid Tools download link and backup instructions can be found here: ] Hope this helps! RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - jawara - 2014-08-14 RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - Irish - 2014-08-15 a swap is very slow even on High-class sd's. better try cache2sd and kill unnecessary tasks to speed up your B15... RE: UnBrick Cat B15 - Irish - 2014-08-17 haven't read carefully, sry. to use your external sd as internal you have to edit the vold.fstab and vold.fstab.nand found in system/etc. vold.fstab: dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard1 emmc@fat /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.0/mmc_host dev_mount sdcard2 /storage/sdcard0 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.1 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.1/mmc_host vold.fstab.nand dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.1/mmc_host this works great on my B15 |
