32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - n9700 - 2014-04-13 I have Star/Sesonn N9700 (mtk6582) with Android 4.2.2 and bought Integral 32Gb class 10 UHS card. When the phone screen goes off, the files cannot be opened on the phone. Like it is unmounting when the phone sleeps. I have to reboot phone to see the files again. Card is genuine and Integral replaced it but still the same. I have 8Gb cards which work fine. I have tried reformatting card already. Has anyone seen this problem? How to fix it? Should I get Sandisk instead or go to class 6? Will there be a ROM fix eventually? RE: 32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - rucaxp - 2014-05-15 Hi there. There's nothing wrong with your MSD Card. It's that for some odd reason some mtk boards don't read class 10 cards! Meaning, there's some incompatibility with MSDs of this class. Use at maximum class 6. There isn't a notorious upgrade of speed between a class 6 and a 10 on android devices anyway. Faster cards are only for photography purposes, most especially those 100 Megapixels professional cameras. A class 4 is usualy enough. Edit: I found out that there's a workaround for class 10 MSD cards speeds. It's very easy. Just download rom toolbox and use SD Booster, then put the top speed to 4096 Kbps. Or use "custom" and write "6144"! This will downgrade your card to a lower speed. Unfortunaly you can't uninstal rom toolbox after doing all these steps. This is because it needs to patch the MSD card everytime you start your android device. But it works! Here, download this Rom Toolbox app: RE: 32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - n9700 - 2014-05-16 Hi. Thanks for the reply. I have been checking daily, hoping for a solution. In the meantime, Integral have sent me even a class 4, 32Gb to try but this has the same problem. I have seen the suggestion of sd booster but (like other solutions like wake lock and leaving wifi on) it works for some and not others. As I don't really want to root unless I have to, I have not tried it but if I can be certain it works, I will do it! If it happens on a class 4, then is it even worth trying???? Did it solve the problem for you. rucaxp? Yet several class 4 8Gb cards still work perfectly. I have thought about buying a different manufacturers 32Gb card but it would be very annoying if that was the same too. Would be great to know what 32Gb cards people use with an N9700 or similar MTK ? RE: 32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - Sniper47 - 2014-05-16 Wow. Checking everyday for a month. You know it's okay to bump once in a while Have you tried formatting it as FAT32? RE: 32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - n9700 - 2014-05-16 (2014-05-16, 02:31)Sniper47 Wrote: Wow. Checking everyday for a month. You know it's okay to bump once in a while Now I know I get an email when there is a reply Yes I have been formatting as FAT32, default allocation size 32Kb, tried SD formatter and other tools as well as just Windows. (XP) RE: 32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - Sniper47 - 2014-05-16 It's either the quality of the card or the ROM or the phone itself. Try with a name brand 32GB card - (real Kingston or similar) My best guess is this is a ROM issue. RE: 32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - n9700 - 2014-05-26 Just an update to say I tried updating my ROM originally dated Jan 2014, to a stock dated 28th April. That didn't work with my camera so I now have a ROM dated march. None of the versions changed the sd card problem though. (I posted comments on the ROM site) I tried a few different formatting parameters, changing sector sizes but nothing works. I haven't found anyone else with this phone who can say if a 32Gb card works or doesn't work for them. Also I don't know anyone with a 32Gb card that I can test it with. I'm tempted to buy another brand of card but will be annoying if that still doesn't work. I too think it is something that can be fixed in the ROM so will keep looking in the future. Are there any non-stock ROM's for these phones? I'm currently using the 8Gb class 4 card which works fine except being nearly full! RE: 32Gb Class 10 sd card wake problem - n9700 - 2014-07-27 So many weeks on and I have now rooted my phone, Tried ROM Toolbox and other tools to turn off cpu throttling, tried SD Booster etc. Nothing works, as soon as the screen goes off (sometimes once, sometimes a few times) connection to the SD Card is lost (e.g. if I use file manager and create a directory, I get "file operation failed" or delete something I get "pemission denied" which actually mean it cannot see the card). 8Gb card still work fine but the 3 Integral 32Gb cards (including class 4) I have tried don't. If the screen does not go off, it will continue working. Still wondering whether to buy a different brand or 16gb but will it still be the same? Still no one else seen this problem or know a fix? Any other ROM's to try? Could it be that for some odd reason your phone might have a damaged sdcard module? I havent found a single person complaining about it. Except a Elephone Mini 7 phone user on a spanish forum... I have the same basic phone, a Mlais Mx28+ with a 16 GB class 10 and never had any problem as of yet. My msd card's brand is LEXAR. Still i am going to try to help again. Check the attachment i provide and try to "underclock" the card to a 2048KB cache. But remember, do it only to the sd card. NOT to the internal memory. As I said, I have tried different cache sizes, so that does not help. Increasing the cache isn't really underclocking the card though, although I see you put underclock in quotes. The seller has assured me that the phone works perfectly ok with 32Gb cards, even class 10. As you may know it is a well known problem with many Android phones. There are literally thousands of posts for Samsung phones for example, although they get errors about sd card unmounted. Sandisk cards had a specific manufacturing issue just last year causing this error. Do you have a link to the Elephone Mini 7 thread? Doesn't matter if in Spanish. If I'm stuck with 8Gb so be it. My phone is not going to be repaired/replaced. Just trying to get any more info. I can before deciding on trying a different make of card. It might just be something specific about Integral cards, power saving? Anyway, I won't post any more about it, if no one else has the problem. |
