MTK6582 - Discussion Here - marwanxx - 2014-04-05 Dear MTK6582 Users.. I am totally have a '0' knowledge about Android and a newbie but wanted to know about it. So, I suggest that you are willing to share anything about rooting, flashing and other customization so we learn together and help the other people with your knowledge. Thanks in advance for your contribution. Regards, marwanxx RE: MTK6582 - Discussion Here - vampirefo - 2014-04-05 Your best bet is just to read as much of this forum as you can, I have ordered two C30 phones which are MTK6582, no ideal if they will be similar to yours or not. I am new to MTK but not new to android or Linux. I am a android dev on many devices on several forums, but on this device I need to learn just like you do, I do that by reading. RE: MTK6582 - Discussion Here - cracktech - 2014-04-06 Ihave a LENOVO A880 Mt6582 phablet and have used about 5 version of firmware that all originated from China (it has lousy support but available on NEEDROM, if you crash your phone without anyway of recovering it , you have to reflash it and these are all there is to it) I need to tell you that 3rd party app to root this model (or I belief all Mt6582 phones is to use VROOT) it will take less tan 20secs to achieve root, there is none equivalent US app that can successfully root it (Motochopper,SuperSU, all fails to root it and it causes the firmware to be corrupted- msg "insufficient storage space"). Thats the first reason I need to reflash it. BUT there is a downside to using VROOT (you gain root access OK/alright) but it cannot allow you to install busybox from PlayStore or manual copy via RootExplorer it doesnt "symlink" if you do put that in xbin or bin folder. But I suspect the Chinese Superuser from VROOT which has its "su" binary about 300++ KB include some kind of "busybox" capability in it if you compare that to SuperSU which has <110KB "su" binary. But you dont have any problems running any apps requiring root access. That is all from me to chip in on the MT6582. (However I am on a Russian based firmware for the A880 which was correctly rooted with SuperSU and a version 1,91 busybox anything higher will make it unstable- dont want to touch the Chinese firmware which has SuperSU but cant be upgraded it will fail to install updated "su" binaries and has no busybox , if you try to install busybox it says it cant install) . the Russian firmware installs a modified TWRP recovery beautiful, the chinese can only managed a Chinese CWM recovery) RE: MTK6582 - Discussion Here - vampirefo - 2014-04-06 RE: MTK6582 - Discussion Here - NexusTrix - 2014-04-06 That's just one of many tools that will 'auto' root MT6582 MT6592 etc... Not all users are developers. Some need a quick one click method. I don't want to put words in this other user's mouth, but from my understanding of what he wrote, that is just the tool that he used. Looking forward to your tutorial on brute force method RE: MTK6582 - Discussion Here - vampirefo - 2014-04-07 (2014-04-06, 22:42)NexusTrix Wrote: That's just one of many tools that will 'auto' root MT6582 MT6592 etc... Not all users are developers. Some need a quick one click method. I will post how to root the device and steps to install recovery and dual boot phone, eg run phone from sdcard, once I have phone. I have went to needrom.com and downloaded some ZOPO ZP820 Roms, as that device appears to be exactly the same as the C30 phones I bought. If you are interested in dual booting you can read my tutorial and see a video I uploaded on it. Just google "vampirefo dual boot lenovo a2109" RE: MTK6582 - Discussion Here - vampirefo - 2014-04-08 Just a small update, my mtk6582 was rooted via framaroot, I download the app using walmart's WiFi, waiting to get straight talk. When I got home I added my busybox to /system/xbin without any problems, then using this forums guides I made a backup. Then used online nandroid to make another backup. Then I installed cwm and with it made another backup, no such thing as too many backups.
