ROM Porting: What minimum files are required from factory ROM? - SPV - 2014-01-05 Hi Friends. I own a MTK6577 device and want to port a custom ROM for my device. I have searched at many places for the tutorials. All of them instruct to port a number of files from FACTORY ROM to CUSTOM ROM, but there is difference about which and how many files are being ported. I want to make a custom ROM with "minimum" (i.e. absolutely essential) files from factory ROM so that I may have latest version files and apps (at the back-end, i.e. in OS) in my new custom ROM and make my new custom ROM as new (in terms of features, capabilities, bug-fixes etc.) as possible. Please guide me if any friend here knows about it. I also want to compile a custom kernel for my device because FACTORY KERNEL is limited in capabilities. For example, it lacks init.d support and I know that for making custom ROMS, it is not possible to use other devices' kernels. So as of now, I'm stuck with using my FACTORY KERNEL in custom ROM. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
