Which China Phone Should I Buy? Hehe - immynanj - 2013-12-04 First off Hi everyone hope your all good and thumbs up for the forum. Im in the UK, looking at buying a new phone and have seen what seems to be some epic prices on the tech with these Chinese phones. However, my first worry is that the stated specs are unreliable, which, obviously is the case some times! Secondly, the longevity of the phone, ive heard some dying after 3-6mths. Ive been looking mainly at this Miz Z2 (MTK6589T 32GB with 2GB RAM) from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/MIZ-Z2-Android-MTK6589T-upgrading/dp/B00EHFS7B8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2WQWM8O40ATOO&coliid=I1MJYN1UHXHNRD Now, i know its a market seller, Dracotek and not Amazon, but i feel it better than Ali or Ebay, and the price and delivery times seem quite good too. Anyone have any experiences with Dracotek or The Miz Z2 (or Star S5, etc.) or both even? Thanks in advance, Immy RE: Which China Phone Should I Buy? Hehe - GizBeat - 2013-12-05 Great you're in the UK. It means the 3G will be compatible with most all of the China models because you have 2100MHz WCDMA/UMTS in UK. The China phone market is your oyster I started a 3 part series a while back that may address some of your questions. http://gizbeat.com/2348/china-phones-vs-popular-name-brand-phones-123-fight-part-1/ . Part 3 still unwritten, but coming soon. While it's true some people have had issues with phones lasting 3-6 months, this is mostly phones from 2011 or before. They're built much better than before - assuming you buy a decent brand and not some cheap clone. Of course we recommend you purchase from one of our sponsors as opposed to Amazon, but Amazon merchants can mostly be trusted as well. People are generally happy with their Star S5 / Miz z2. It's a good phone. If it were my choice, I'd go with the iOcean you were looking at. For the price and specs, it's a very good deal, but either phone should make you happy. I also recommend you take a look at Jiayu G3S and G4. Hope you'll stick around. If you have any more questions, feel free to post. One of the members will get back to you. RE: Which China Phone Should I Buy? Hehe - ulcire - 2013-12-05 pulid t9 is decent RE: Which China Phone Should I Buy? Hehe - immynanj - 2013-12-05 Thanks for the input, so I think ive decided on getting th iOcean X7 elite from 1949Deal, its a stunning price! Just one more question guys, I use my phone as my satnav, I have seen fixes for the GPS on MTK6589T devices, but have also seen peple say GPS is still not good, this is quite a big thing for me as i use my GPS LOTS and LOTS. I do however hardly reboot my phone so i dont mind if i just have to aqure gps data after booting. Any advice appreciated as always. RE: Which China Phone Should I Buy? I can tell you I had no problems with my i6000's (MT6589t) GPS signal. I did not have to fix it or configure it or anything. I just turned it on and it worked on my 3 hour trip... no problems. I feel with a popular/known/name brand phone like the iOcean, the GPS should work just fine. |
