Partitioning of the internal memory - vonSchnoid - 2013-12-02 I have a question: I tried to use the partitioning tool described elsewhere on this site and ran into a load of problems. The thing is that now i only got 1GB of app-storage and before i had about 5GB. The tool seems to corrupt the partitioning and i cant install/flash a new ROM unless i use that ROM's mem partitioning. And those ROM's i have tried all have 1GB of app mem. I have tried and search (in vain) for info on how to create your ERB/ERB2 (the partition tables) files so now i hope someone here can help me with this. I'm also in the process of trying to get iNew to publish a newer (the same as i have) ROM on their site but sofar that has been like bashing my head against the wall. So: someone who is well versed in the art of creating partition tables for an iNew 6000 2/32GB? Any help is appreciated! RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - GizBeat - 2013-12-02 Hi Von, The tool was successfully run on iNew i6000. No problems. After running the tool, did you boot into factory mode and factory reset? RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - vonSchnoid - 2013-12-02 (2013-12-02, 18:32)Gizbeat Wrote: Hi Von, Yup, did that. Have in fact tried it several times with different version of the tool and with different ROMs. All with the same result: stuck at boot screen. I will do some other testing which i have devised but sofar i'm left clueless why it doesn't work for me... I'll post what i come up with. RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - bertmansk - 2013-12-02 From what I understand, you're trying to flash with flash tools. Have you tried with CWM? Then, like I did, format the storage drive in Windows. RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - GizBeat - 2013-12-02 I believe he's been re-flashing with SP Flash Tools after the soft-brick after using the tool. It's not clear whether he's able to boot into recovery at all after using the tool. A couple of things here 1) After running the app and it soft-bricks, you can try to flash with SP Flash Tools but don't flash the EBR1/EBR2. Boot into recovery and factory reset. 2) Also as bertmansk mentions, if you can get into recovery after the re-partition, you can try to SD Update firmware (different firmware type of package than SP Flash Firmware), then factory reset. (This one is one of the newest, seen posted by stevenma61 in another thread: ) RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - vonSchnoid - 2013-12-02 RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - Squier - 2013-12-03 Shouldn't there be the lk.bin file in the ROM? If I remember correctly people who have a custom partition should remove this file from the Zip file to make sure it isn't overwritten when flashing. So I guess it should be there to change the partition to stock partition? From there you should be able to partition again? That's what I would do when I had that same problem.... RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - vonSchnoid - 2013-12-04 OK some update. I have done a lot of testing! So far nothing has worked for me when using the partitioning tool. I found on another forum someone who has done custom ERB files up to 13GB of app-storage. Of course i d/l and tested. Nothing worked EXCEPT the Fireflyv65 Xperia ROM (regardles if the lk.bin was present in the package). This ROM picked up the new size just fine (13GB). The problem is that the ROM sucks in all other respects IMHO. ATM i'm d/l a new ROM from iNew. Maybe this fixes everything. I'll keep you updated. RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - Squier - 2013-12-04 I'm very satisfied with this Xperia ROM; so far nothing beats this one, mainly because the screen is uncontrollable with other ROMs. It does feel a bit 'heavy', but I rather have this than the oversensitive screen on other ROMs. Battery life isn't as good as the other ROMs though, I wish that could be solved. Other than that, great ROM. RE: Partitioning of the internal memory - vonSchnoid - 2013-12-04 Sweet Googaly Moogaly! Back in business! I got a new ROM from iNew with the correct partitioning (5GB for apps)! Flashed it and restored my last backup and now everything is dandy... I guess i'll stick with the 5GB partition until something new comes up. Not that i haven't learned a lot in the process on how things work though. Still missing knowledge on how the partitioning really works but i guess i have to continue searching. If anyone is interested i will publish the new ROM. It's 788MB so it's quite big. Here is the official naming: 20130911_e2006v20_v89_cxq2_fhd_inew. It will be on Box and split in 4 files Will post the link when the upload is done. |
